PROJECTED LAB-E DICROMATIC ELECTRONIC DETECTOR FACILITY

Description: Two years ago the first neutrino interaction had yet to be observed at Fermilab. It was not known at that time whether the cross section would continue to rise above 10 GeV (in fact there were indications from cosmic ray experiments to the contrary), or even whether a W-boson might exist with a mass of say 2.5 GeV/c{sup 2}. Put in this perspective the progress in neutrino physics has been truly outstanding. Let us just review briefly the primary results so far reported by the Caltech-Fermilab g… more

Proposal to study neutral particle production in 250-GeV p p interactions in the Fermilab 15 foot bubble chamber

Description: We propose a small exposure (25K pictures) of the hydrogen-filled FNAL 15-foot bubble chamber to a 250 GeV proton beam. Our main physics objectives are: (1) To study the dependence of neutral particle production ({pi}{sup 0}, K{sup 0}, {Lambda}) on the charged multiplicity in diffractive and non-diffractive processes. (2) To measure integrated correlations (f{sub 2}{sup {+-}0} and f{sub 2}{sup 00}) for neutral pions in a ''clean'' experiment. To make these measurements reliably requires neutral… more

A Rapid Tcr Test Method for Tantalum-Nitride Resistive Films

Description: Taking two resistance readings, at room temperature and at -196°C when the substrate is submerged in liquid nitrogen provides a convenient means of measuring the TCR of tantalum-nitride films. The liquid nitrogen provides a large, controlled temperature differential that can be used conveniently in the production environment. A digital-readout tester with only a simple nulling adjustment makes it possible to read the TCR of the film directly on the DVM indicator. This method provides the prompt… more

STUDIES OF DEEP INELASTIC DIFFERENTIAL DISTRIBUTIONS AT HIGH ENERGIES FOR neutrino anti-neutrino BEAMS

Description: We propose as the initial experiment in the new dichromatic V detector to make a systematic study of deep inelastic cross sections. This experiment will use the present target-detector remounted. A new magnet spectrometer system will be installed giving both better resolution and acceptance. An improved dichromatic beam will also give better information on the incident 13 neutrino energy. We propose 1000 hours of running with > 10{sup 13} ppp for this experiment.

A STUDY OF THE K0(L) STRONG INTERACTIONS IN THE MOMENTUM REGION 60-360 GeV/c

Description: We propose to design, build and use a tertiary K{sub L}{sup 0} beam produced using the high intensity pion beam being built in the proton area. The main advantage of this beam over previous beam is the low neutron background (K{sub L}/n > 3). We propose to study the large transverse momentum dependence of the particles produced in the strong interactions of a K{sub L}{sup 0} beam, and also the production of leptons, and lepton pairs.
