Description: Recording of Nicolas Verin's Mariposa clavada que medita su vuelo. For flute, tape, and electronics. The title is a verse from the Ode to Salvador Dali by Federico Garcia Lorca. There is no contradiction, but a complementarity, between the internal micro-mobility of the sound material, its expansion, and a smooth and deployed curve, a free and wide flight.

15° harmonico

Description: Recording of Rodrigo Cicchelli Velloso's 15° harmonico. For harmonica, piano, and tape. This piece develops a series of variations of the initial piano sequence. Most of the sounds in the electronic part are taken from the samples of the piano itself, but a flute and various percussion instruments have also been used. These sounds have been reworked using different filtering techniques, to impose a harmonic relationship commonality between instrumental and electronic writing.

CellOrganics

Description: Recording of Nicolay Apollyon's CellOrganics. For Cello and ISPW. This work uses the timbre of the solo cello extended through computer signal processing and synthesis. The instrument generates the electronic sounds in real time under the soloist's direct control, offering a wide range of sonic possibilities. The signal processing and synthesis include live sampling, real-time granulation and spatialization. The computer tracks the pitch and amplitude envelopes of the input signal of the cello.

This work was the starting point of a double compositional approach which takes the form of a duet for oboe and bass clarinet on the one hand, and the present electroacoustic piece on the other. Triquetraflux

Description: Recording of Garnet Willis' Triquetraflux. This work is a sound installation consisting of a system of three electromagnetic conispheric harps operating under computer control. In its most basic form, the work has been conceptualized as an acoustic sound generating organism; consisting of three conispheric harps is constructed to create a chaotic feedback system that produces sound. This piece is the fact that the sound you hear is interpreted and produced in real time.

Description: Recording of Fumitake Ohnaka's A C 2. All of the sounds within this piece were modulated by A-Life algorithm. The sounds consist of: comb filtered noise, FM synthesis, sine waves, samples humans voice, piano tone, and nature sound. Then, these sounds were re-synthesized using Csound techniques, convolution, granular synthesis, and phase vocoder.

Points of departure

Description: Recording of Chin-Chin Chen's Points of departure. For vibraphone and tape, realized using Ensoniq SQ-2, SQ-R, and YAMAHA TX81Z. This work maintains the identity of the soloist vibraphone, and creates the ambiguity between the live vibe and the ghost vibe to some degree in some sections. The whole piece is clearly divided into 6 sections. The live vibe sometimes stands in the limelight (cadenza) and sometimes merges into the tape.

Description: Recording of Marie Pauline Esguerra's Abmon-Ulan-Alon. The title of this piece (Rain-rain-waves) reflects what is to be perceived as aquatic quality. Water and rain is the majority of sound material used in the piece, primarily in the way gestural sound objects, when iterated and developed in different ways, create larger, textural events, which continually shift the listener's focus.

Barren lands

Description: Recording of Rajmil Fischman's Barren lands. The structure of this work is modelled on the periodicity of surf, consisting of repeated series of waves of increasing size and power. When the most powerful wave is at peak, the cycle begins again. There is one cycle made of three waves which are preceded by an introduction and followed by an epilogue. Each wave begins with the thinnest of sounds, builds towards a climax and, finally, dissolves.

Pont de l'Alma de Paris

Description: Recording of Kazuo Uehara's Pont de l'Alma de Paris: I and II. This title is from the name " Pont de l'Alma " of the metro station in Paris. In this piece the composer tries to express the impression of Paris which has the harmony with contemporary culture and the historical culture. Environmental sounds from the town of Paris were used. In the first half, the piece expresses the impression of the town itself. In the second half, the piece expresses inspiration from the works of Fernand Leger.

Description: Commissioned by the Colombian guitarist Arturo Parra, En Cuerdas is the acousmatic version of a work for guitar and tape. Completely independent from the version for guitar and tape, this piece is to be projected on an orchestra of loudspeakers and is an autonomous work. Its sonic environment however remains that of strings that are plucked, rubbed and struck, made virtual and transformed by computer processes and expanded by the use of "electroacoustic writing".

Monólogo (Version 2)

Description: Recording of Guto Caminhoto's Monólogo (Version 2). Monólogo was composed using computer synthesized sounds and natural sounds. The main sound material prepared for this piece is the voice - words spoken and recorded by the composer, and computer synthesized voices with Csound’s FOF unit generator. Other sounds are bells, stones, wood and some more synthesized sounds. It was premiered on June, 13, 1996 at State University of Londrina, Brazil.
