Dragons in the Sky

Description: Dragons in the Sky is highly rhythmic and aggressive in a broad dynamic structure of ABA. The horn, percussion and tape parts become increasingly combative during the unfolding of the work as they push forward in very goal-oriented gestures, and each instrument, in turn, attempts to dominate the other two by sheer force. The textures produced in the tape part vacillate from free, unmetered sections to driving, metered sections. A variety of timbres are produced on the horn using extended techniā€¦ more

Le Temps des Faux Cils

Description: Work made from recording of "Jeunesse". Argument: "Discovered in Western Europe around 3054, this document is the only one we have in our possession concerning the musical customs of the end of the 20th century, the rest having been erased forever by the great 'electromagnetic wave' of 2015. It sounds like a recording of a musical concert by an amateur audience, which was common practice at the time."

Buleria

Description: Rhythm is a vital characteristic of man and nature around him. We are not always able to perceive every level of rhythm. This often masks a reality that some of us, despite the consistency of some ontological visions, feel like escaping power, love, and the senses. "Buleria" is now a being independent of me although it is me who shows it; it is a fruit of my thought, to which I am no longer the only one to have access. "Buleria" is, from the beginning to the end, an algorithm that takes shape bā€¦ more

Es un PƔjaro Ɓmbar!

Description: Work done in the Electroacoustic Music Office of Cuenca with the technical support of Leopoldo Amigo. The gesture is at the base of almost all my musical works. The latter does not escape this constant. The word, perhaps the most complex physical production of man, has been in this case the chosen gesture generator. Sometimes whole, sometimes sectioned in tiny quanta, some of the words of a poem of Clara Gari's Finist Rae Transitions give physical support to the time over which the work is carrā€¦ more

Miroirs DĆ©formants I

Description: Sound images, multiple reflections of these images, inverted, multiplied, stretched, transmuted. The reflections are played out on several levels: between the band and the instrument, between the horizantal and the vertical, at the level of the timbre, and at the level of the form. The writing employs many unconventional instrumental techniques that have been incorporated into the structure of the piece; its harmony and melody are intimately linked to multiphonics and quarter-tones. Salto Mortal

Description: "Salto Mortal" is a piece for tape alone. The musical argument is based on a speech of timbres and rhythms, in opposition with melody and harmony. The sounds should be heard "from the inside" for some parts and like rhythmic cells in others. The piece tries to permanently integrate this internal and external rhythm. The absence of a melodic line does not exclude a thematic character. The work is based on themes that were constructed and presented at the beginning and then "dissolve" in order toā€¦ more

Landschaft

Description: I developed the entire music from a piano improvisation by F. Gulda, which was recorded for this purpose. I did not use any other material than ours, by the sound chemistry of the electronic transformation, I formed many figures (gestalten): full of colors, voices, bells, instruments, wind and rain, no sounds without name etc ... From all its components, I built something like a landscape that can be used as an immediate acoustic environment. "Landscape" is mostly abstract, however, with a smalā€¦ more

Spermanence

Description: This work uses, with rudimentary means, the fixed qualities of a piano sound sampled by the lack of an AKAI factory. Despite a rather hollow sound that I sought in this sonata to give a field of expression quite extended to the possibilities of putting in play offered by the computer. The piece is in three movements, essentially based on the deployment of an initial agreement. At any moment, I voluntarily appealed to a rhetorical break of form, an appeal to our routed memory, to become, and yeā€¦ more

It was premiered at The Royal Northern Conservatory of Music in Manchester, England in August the same year. Acuerdor por Differencia

Description: Picture yourself travelling at ease on the train. As you look through the window, you notice the power cables, which run parallel to the tracks. As your eyes follow them, they seem to turn giving the impression of a volume that gently and continuously rotates as it changes shape. This flow seems to accelerate before being momentaneously interrupted by the posts that hold them at more or less regular distances; this is immediately followed by the previous soft change as you recapture the perspeā€¦ more

La Maga o el Ɓngel de la Noche

Description: The metaphorical suggestion, already evoked in the title of the work, intends to draw the listeners attention to a kind of archaic symbolism. This symbolism refers him/her back to the mythical-magic character which belongs to the notion of the existence of a nether world proper to the cosmogony of some Latin American cultures. In a world like this change is not conceived as the result of a process of temporal development (causality) but the terms of a "mutation", in other words, a sudden,ā€¦ more

These sounds were manipulated from sound elements. A range of 12 tones has been established. Ɖpisodes Transparents

Description: "Transparent Episodes" freely draws inspiration from the world of JMG Clezio, and in particular from "Journeys on the other side", a book in which she borrows her character-words, as well as her final sentence, which ends the play. This music goes through 7 episodes: regions, territories, each with its climate, its tectonics, its temporality, its particular rites. Fantasies

Description: Fantasies for Soprano Saxophone and Tape was written in 1983 for saxophonist Kenneth Fischer. It is dedicated to him and to the memory of Peter Tod Lewis. The music commemorates Lewis' wit and taste for the unexpected. Each movement addresses a different facet of his rich personality. The first movement, "Imminence," is a tongue-in-cheek serial work, involving grotesque tape sounds and robust counterpoint between the tape and the saxophone, resolving to an uncertain and hazy cadence. Description: This is a fun piece and should be enjoyed by both the instrumentalists and the audience. The idea of the work is obvious from the name, "Carousel". Labels run our lives ā€“ who, what, where we are and so forth. Minimalism, Maximalism, Expressionist, traditional. All these labels have different meanings according to who is listening. Not mentioning the importance of where the listener is from. This piece should be listened to, and not labeled. It is conceived fro the Electro-Acoustic Concert Envirā€¦ more

Description: It's hard for me to commemorate a revolution that is not mine; I can learn about this Revolution by the historical approach, the essays of fictions, its images on stage or in visual, traces in France or indirectly anywhere in Europe. In Finland, the Revolution is suspended by historical events that the majority have already forgotten. The grandeur of the French Revolution is probably a kind of unconscious of the kind of ancient Greek culture, the religion of the West, the industrial revolution,ā€¦ more
