Description: Recording of Claude Jordan's Cithare. Work made up of 3 movements, whose basic material is fragments, samples taken from a traditional instrument frequently used in German-speaking Switzerland: the "Hackbret" or "Citre". Much of the sound processing has been done around transposition and reverse playback bringing an unusually resonant and percussive aspect of the original instrument.

Ambon-Ulan-Alon

Description: Recording of Marie Pauline Esguerra's Abmon-Ulan-Alon. The title of this piece (Rain-rain-waves) reflects what is to be perceived as aquatic quality. Water and rain is the majority of sound material used in the piece, primarily in the way gestural sound objects, when iterated and developed in different ways, create larger, textural events, which continually shift the listener's focus.

Hommage à Winston Smith

Description: Recording of Jukka Ruohomaki's Hommage à Winston Smith. This work is a recomposition of old sound materials made for am experimental short film. The film celebrates the year 1984, and it develops further the basic ideas of G. Orwell's novel: human beings are produced, exploited and destroyed according to the needs of society. The sounds have here undergone manifold processes, male voices being the main material.

Left to his own devices (To Milton Babbitt at 80)

Description: Recording of Eric Chasalow's Left to his own devices (To Milton Babbitt at 80). In this work, the composer combined archival interviews with Milton Babbitt with a virtual RCA synthesizer. This music draws on quotations from Babbitt’s instrumental music performed by the sounds of the RCA. The text composited of phrases that Milton has spoken many times over the years. The composer has tried to intensify these phrases by building a dramatic, musical structure both from them and around them.

Pianocentrix

Description: Recording of David Keane's Pianocentrix. Pianocentrix was composed in the summer of 1988, using facilities from the composer's analog electroacoustic music studio in Scarborough, Ontario. The work was commissioned by David Olds for Radio CKLN-FM in Toronto (Ontario) with the help of a grant from the Ontario Arts Council. Pianocentrix premiered on radio on September 26, 1988 as part of David Olds' contemporary music program, "Transfigured Night."

Des Etres

Description: Recording of Gabriel Brnčić's Des Etres. This work is dedicated to the memory of Oscar Masotta, a specialist in psychoanalysis and semiology. This is music that recalls the atmosphere of the first montages of the imaginary theater that Oscar Masotta created in the 60s in Buenos Aires and to which I collaborated by producing infinite quantities of sound. Now, a viol and a computer, in eight-voice polyphony, constitute this absence of being, constantly speaking of its presence.

Klagovisor

Description: Recording of Ákos Rozman's Klagovisor. This work is written in memory of the composer's mother. The use of an old dried-out zither is used within the piece. There are also sounds of strings and crying, wailing vocal fragments from Hungarian folk music groups. The piece consists of thirteen short movements that blend into each other. Sotto pressione

Description: Recording of Wolfgang Motz's Sotto pressione. It is for two oboes and computer sounds. There is the use of multiphonics and unusual tone colors, which requires different fingerings to produce the same pitches. Combining oboe and FM synthesis with the sue of a common pitch system allowed for the generation of three different oboes timbres. AM synthesis is also utilized towards the end of the piece for the notes A, B flat, and b; which are sustained.
