Description: Recording of Benjamin Wilson's Sediment. The majority of the sound sources for this work come from rock, sand, dirt, gravel, etc. The presence of non-geological sounds could refer to historical or archeological discoveries. The listener encounters blurred remnants of complex events that reveal little information to the average person. The composer used layering as a key role in this piece, establishing a journey to either the the ends or the center of the Earth.

Stretto

Description: Recording of Matthias Ockert's Stretto. This is a work for 8-channel tape and was commissioned by the ZKM (Center for Arts and Media) at Karlsruhe, Germany. This work comes from a larger composition that was inspired by 12 terms from Holls essay, "Intertwining". The sound materials used in this composition came from recorded samples of electric and acoustic guitar. The title of this piece comes from the musical term "stretto" as well as the "stretto house" built by architect Steven Holl.

Description: Recording of Natasha Barrett's Mobilis in Mobili. This work is the central axis of the larger electroacoustic work "Trade Winds" which was inspired by the vast expanse of sea. The title of the work comes from a novel by Jules Verne. This piece was commissioned by NoTAM with funds from the Norwegian Cultural Council and the Norwegian Composers' Fund. This work includes an excerpt from a sea shanty performed by the Storm Weather Shanty Choir.

The main sound source of this work comes from a recording of the composers rehearsal of "Fractales para orquesta" done by "Orquesta Sinf—nica de la Universidad Nacional de Cuyo" and directed by David del Pino-Klinge. The composer used these sound samples and created diverse treatments of the material.
