Description: Recording of Gonzalo Biffarella's Alf Tia (para flauta y soporte digital). Alf Tua is a work for transverse flute and electronics. The electroacoustic part is composed entirely of sounds that we had previously searched for and recorded together with the flutist. In the live version the instrumentalist plays along with the playback of a CD.

Alizés

Description: Recording of David Fortez' Alizés. The composer describes this work as more of a "recomposition" than an original composition. It was born from the cross between two pieces that the composer had just finished: Giocoso and Bleu Nuit. The composer took the main parts from both this pieces and furthered his abstraction of the sound material. This piece was mixed entirely in stereophony using concrete sounds.

Description: Recording of Theodoros Lotis' Arioso dolente/Beethoven op. 110. This work is based on Beethoven's Piano Sonata op. 110, more specifically the third movement "Adagio ma non troppo". The composer was more interested in the spiritual aspects of this sonata and tried to enhance this aspect in his composition. This work was commissioned by Amici della Musica di Gagliari for the festival "Beethoven 2002" in Italy.

Baoding

Description: Recording of David Berezan's Baoding. This work was inspired by Baoding Iron Balls, which were used during the Ming dynasty for therapeutic benefits. Sounds of these iron balls as well as fragments from the Beijing and Kun opera, were used to create the material in this piece. The composer states that this piece consists of 3 miniatures: ecstatic, intimate, and pulsing.

Blank Mirror

Description: Recording of Erdem HelvacioÄŸlu's Blank Mirror. This work premiered at the Microburst Electroacoustic Concert in 2002. The composer states that this piece is about a man seeking salvation in the modern world where confronting oneself is becoming increasingly difficult. The work expresses his journey of finding the meaning of his existence and ends with him finding peace.

Burning

Description: Recording of Hideko Kawamoto's Burning. The imagery for this piece was derived by two anonymous poems, Western Wind and Lak. The visual images of Western Wind are portrayed with the words from Lak, offering a connection that can then be used in creating the sound. The electronic sounds are accompanied by various concrete sounds as well as five live instruments (alto flute, piccolo, violin, cello, and piano) meant to enforce the images behind the computer-generated sounds.

Cellotronicum

Description: Recording of Michal Talma-Sutt's Cellotronicum. This is a work for cello and computer and was suggested to the composer by the Polish cellist, Andrzej Bauer. It was also commissioned by the "Warsaw Autumn Friends" Foundation with funds from the Ernst von Siemens Musikistiftung. The computer in this work is meant to take the role usually performed by tape and live electronics and is used to transform recorded sounds of the cello.
