Levee Underseepage Analysis for Special Foundation Conditions [Floppy Disk]

Description: Computer program developed to predict underseepage conditions for special cases of levee and foundation geometry. The differential equations for levee underseepage were derived and programmed in finite difference form for three special cases of boundary conditions. The developed programs allow analyses that are not restricted to the boundary conditions assumed in the conventional, closed form solution, i.e., two foundation layers of uniform thickness with horizontal boundaries.

Description: The purpose of the test was to check the extraction crane rails in the area of the reactor pit for level and parallelism. The west extraction crane rail exceeded the allowed tolerance of 1/32 inch at only one location. The elevation of the north bumper was out of tolerance by 1/64 inch. The east extraction crane rail was consistently lower than the west rail by as much as 8/64 inch. The east rail was parallel with the west rail within allowable tolerances over the length tested except at one lo… more

Lift and center of pressure of wing-body-tail combinations at subsonic, transonic, and supersonic speeds

Description: From Summary: "A method is presented for calculating the lift and centers of pressure of wing-body and wing-body-tail combinations at subsonic, transonic, and supersonic speeds. A set of design charts and a computing table are presented which reduce the computations to routine operations. Comparison between the estimated and experimental characteristics for a number of wing-body and wing-body-tail combinations shows correlation to within + or - 10 percent on lift and to within about + or - 0.02… more

Lift and drag characteristics and gliding performance of an autogiro as determined in flight

Description: From Summary: "This report presents the results of flight test of the Pitcairn "PCA-2" autogiro. Lift and drag coefficients with the propeller stopped have been determined over approximately a 90 degree range of angles of attack. Based on the sum of fixed-wing and swept-disk areas, the maximum lift coefficient is 0.895, the minimum drag coefficient with propeller stopped is 0.015, and the maximum l/d with propeller stopped is 4.8. Lift coefficients were found also with the propeller delivering … more

Lift and drag characteristics of a cabin monoplane determined in flight

Description: From Summary: "The results of flight tests conducted by the NACA to determine the lift and drag characteristics of a full-scale airplane are given herein. A Fairchild FC-2W2 cabin monoplane having a Gottingen 387 wing section was used for the tests. The maximum lift coefficient for the airplane is compared with that obtained for the Gottingen 387 airfoil in recent tests in the Variable Density Tunnel. The maximum lift coefficient for the airplane was found to be 1.50 and that for the airfoil 1.… more
