Geology of Carnotite-Bearing Sandstone in the Uravan and Gateway Districts, Montrose and Mesa Counties, Colorado, and Grand County, Utah

Description: From Introduction: "In the Uravan and Gateway districts, the general character of the bedding in the ore-bearing sandstone and amount of alteration in associated mudstones, and the relation of these to each other, are the features most useful as large-scale guides. This report describes these features and their distribution, as well as some other significant geologic characteristics of the ore-bearing sandstone."

Geology of the Calamity Peak area, Custer County, South Dakota

Description: A report discussing and area of 2.5 square miles along the southwest border of the pre-Cambrian granitic rocks complex in the pre-Cambrian core of the Harney Peak region, Black Hills, South Dakota that was mapped to determine the relationship between the granite-pegmatite complex and the pegmatites containing beryl and other industrial minerals. This investigation was part of the U.S. Geological Surveys program for the investigation of domestic beryllium resources and was carried out on behalf ā€¦ more

Interim Geological Investigations in the U12e.06 Tunnel, Nevada Test Site, Nye County, Nevada

Description: From introduction: This report details Vela Uniform program survey that determined the pre-explosion chemical and physical properties of the tuffs exposed in the tunnel for comparison with similar post-shot geologic data and evaluated these data in terms of predicting the geologic effects of the planned explosion.

Maximum Accelerators Caused by Underground Nuclear Explosions in the Oak Spring Formation in Area 12 of the Nevada Test Site at Distances of 5 to 300 Kilometers: a Preliminary Summary

Description: From introduction: The results presented in this preliminary report are principally concerned with the ground motion caused by seven underground nuclear explosions (table 1) in the bedded tuff of the Oak Spring formation in Area 12. Ground motions were recorded at stations as close as 5 kilometers and as far as 300 kilometers from the explosions (fig 1 and table 2). The results for the Bianca and especially the Evans explosion are meager because the first was accompanied by a Test Site-wide mozā€¦ more
