Acoustic analysis of ram-jet buzz

Description: From Introduction: "The surging of a system containing a centrifugal- or axial-flow compressor (e.g., refs. 1 to 4) is an example of self-sustained oscillation. Inlets designed for supersonic jet engines also have been observed to induce oscillations (e.g., refs. 5 to 11) which are usually referred to as "buzz." The origin of buzz in ram-jet engines is the subject of the present report."

Aerodynamic Characteristics of a Small-Scale Shrouded Propeller at Angles of Attack From 0 to 90 Degrees

Description: Note presenting an investigation to determine the effects of airspeed and angle of attack on the lift, drag, and pitching moment of a shrouded-propeller model with a shroud length of about two-thirds the propeller diameter over an angle of attack from 0 to 90 degrees. Tests were made of the complete model with the propeller operating and also of the shroud and motor combination with the propeller removed.

Aerodynamic Design of Axial-flow Compressors 6 - Experimental Flow in Two-Dimensional Cascades

Description: "Available experimental two-dimensional cascade data for conventional compressor blade sections are correlated at a reference incidence angle in the region of minimum loss. Variations of reference incidence angle, total-pressure loss, and deviation angle with cascade geometry, inlet Mach number, and Reynolds number are investigated. From the analysis and the correlations of the available data, rules and relations are evolved for the prediction of blade-profile performance" (p. 1).

Arc Research. Some Considerations on the Application of the A-48 to the Sherwood Program

Description: An outline is presented of an omnitron source scheme in which the sheath voltage is not carried over into the reactor region. The lines of force defining the region of greatest potential drop are bent so that they return to the center electrode, rather than extending to the reactor chamber.
