Magnesite Deposits of Central Ceará, Brazil

Description: From introduction: The purpose of this study was to investigate the quantity and quality of [Central Ceara, Brazil] magnesite, and the writer concludes that this group of deposits constitutes one of the major reserves of high-grade magnesite in the Western Hemisphere. The ore could be used in the production of any commercial grade of magnesia with little or no beneficiation. Soil and alluvial overburden is thin between widespread outcrops, so all the deposits could be mined from open pits.

Uraniferous Coal and Carbonaceous Shale in Northeast Paraná, Brazil

Description: From abstract: Uraniferous coal has been found in northeast Parana', Brazil, in the Rio Bonito formation of Pennsylvanian age. In the majority of coal samples taken the uranium oxide content ranges from 0.005 to 0.030 percent, but selected screened samples have contained as much as 0.45 percent uranium oxide. Description: From abstract: Radioactive manganese deposits have been found in two swamps and at one locality on the northeast bank of the Rio Itapicuru near Mosquete, municipio of Itapicuru, State of Bahia, Brazil.
