(Alsace-Lorraine was a part of France ceded to the German Empire in 1871. It was reverted to France at the end of the First World War.)

At the upper left hand corner are small portraits of "Generale Diaz" (Armando Vittorio Diaz of Italy), "Presidente Poincare" [sic] (Raymond Poincaré, President of France), "Vict. Emm. III."
