Description: From Summary: "The pressure in the cabin of a Fairchild cabin monoplane was surveyed in flight, and was found to decrease with increased air speed over the fuselage and to vary with the number and location of openings in the cabin. The maximum depression of 2.2 inches of water (equivalent pressure altitude at sea level of 152 feet) occurred at the high speed of the airplane in level flight with the cabin closed."

Calculations of the Effect of Wing Twist on the Air Forces Acting on a Monoplane Wing

Description: "A method is presented for calculating the aerodynamic forces on a moncylane wing, taking into account the elastic twisting of the wing due to these forces. The lift distribution along the span is calculated by the formulas of Amstutz as a function of the geometrical characteristics of the wing and of the twist at stations 60 and 90 percent of the semispan. Description: "This report gives the characteristics of a wing with an auxiliary airfoil mounted near its trailing edge and used as a flap. The tests were made with a 10 by 60 inch Clark Y main airfoil and an NACA 0012 flap having a chord equal to 15 percent of the main wing chord. Influence of Fuel-Oil Temperature on the Combustion in a Prechamber Compression-Ignition Engine

Description: Note presenting the influence of fuel-oil temperature on combustion as investigated by injecting the fuel into the prechamber of a single-cylinder, 4-stroke-cycle, water-cooled, compression-ignition engine operating at 1500 rpm and at a compression ratio of 13.5. The results showed that heating the fuel oil to 750 degrees Fahrenheit increased the injection period, changed the rate of injection, and eliminated the spray cone.

Description: "Measurements were made of the maximum push, pull, and tangential forces that could be applied to airplane wheel-type controls for a wide range of fore-and-aft positions of the wheel. The measurements were conducted with several sizes of wheels and several heights of the center of the wheel above the seat. Effect of spark-timing regularity on the knock of engine performance

Description: Tests on a high-speed single-cylinder engine are described. The regularity of the spark timing was varied by driving the timer from different engine shafts. A simple and reasonably accurate method of determining the spark timing is described. The results show that irregular spark timing may cause large errors in tests of the knocking properties of fuels.
