Geology and Mineralogy of the J.J. Mine, Jo Dandy Area, Montrose County, Colorado

Description: Introduction: Detailed geologic mine mapping and sampling of the J.J. mine in the Jo dandy area, Montrose County, Colo., were undertaken to study a vanadium-uranium ore body in terms of the physical relationships of ore to host rock, the paragenetic sequence of ore minerals, and the sequential development of an oxidized suite of ore minerals from unoxidized ore.

Ground Water Test Well D, Nevada Test Site, Nye County, Nevada

Description: Introduction: The U.S. Geological Survey is appraising the possibility, however slight, that the ground water beneath the Nevada Test Site, possibly contaminated by nuclear detonations, may carry radioactive fission products to places where they may constitute a public hazard.

Gamma-Radioactivity Investigations at the Nevada Test Site, Nye County, Nevada: Interim Report, February 1960 to July 1961

Description: Abstract: As a part of continuous geologic and geophysical investigations at the Nevada Test Site, gamma-radioactivity measurements are being made in tunnels and drill holes to determine semiquantitatively the natural gamma radioactivity of geologic formations and the distribution of nuclear-explosion-produced radioisotopes.

Chemistry and Movement of Ground Water, Nevada Test Site

Description: Introduction: The chemical character of ground water depends to a large degree upon the character of the rock formations through which the water moves. The composition of the water is the result of several solutional and decompositional processes.

Regional Hydrology of a Part of Southern Nevada: a Reconnaissance

Description: From introduction: This report summarizes the available hydrologic information for a part of Nevada surrounding the Nevada Test Site. It emphasizes the possibility that ground water may move from one basin to another, whereas the usual concept heretofore has been that the ground water of the region generally occurs in basins that are closed or nearly closed.

A Summary of the Ground-Water Hydrology of the Area Between the Las Vegas Valley and the Amargosa Desert, Nevada: with Special Reference to the Effects of Possible New Withdrawals of Ground Water

Description: Introduction: The United States Atomic Energy Commission is considering the establishment of a townsite in the vicinity of Mercury, Nevada, to facilitate operations at the Nuclear Rocket Development Station on the Nevada Test Site.
