Ejecta from Single-Charge Cratering Explosions: Volume 1

Description: "Eight high-explosive charges weighing 8 to 1000 pounds were detonated in playa. Each event included 24 to 40 locations of tracer material in the expected crater region. The objective was to obtain data relating the origin of crater ejecta to its depositional location. Resulting data are presented for craters, ejecta areal densities, crater and ejecta mass quantities, tracer dispersion, and an empirical prediction model."

Electrochemically Controlled Ion-Exchange

Description: "For the past several years, the Rocketdyne Research Division has, under the sponsorship of the Office of Saline Water, engaged in a study of the application of electrochemical techniques to the demineralization of brackish water. Early work in this program was concerned with a mechanistic study of electrochemically induced demineralization at chemically treated carbon electrodes. The results of this study led to the development of a process called electrochemically controlled ion-exchange" (p.… more

The Flat Top Uranium Mine, Grants, New Mexico

Description: From introduction: To improve understanding of uranium mineralization of the Todilto Limestone of Late Jurassic age in the Grants district, New Mexico, the mines active in 1957 were reviewed to determine the major types of deposits. A representative example of each type was selected and mapped in great detail to establish a prototype. It was hoped that the analysis of prototypes might shed considerable light on the mineralization process and aid evaluation of other deposits by offering a standa… more

Foundation Investigations, NASA Mississippi Test Facility, Report 4: Dynamic Behavior of Piling During Initial Test Firings on the S-IC and S-II Test Complexes

Description: Report on test firings conducted by a U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) test facility. "The Mississippi Test Facility, located approximately 40 miles northeast of New Orleans, La., is the site of the test stands built to test the first and second stages of the Saturn V space vehicle. At the request of the U. S. Army Engineer District, Mobile, plans were developed for instrumenting the test stands to obtain data on foundation base pressures, lateral wall pressures, and p… more

Geology and Ore Deposits of the Picher Field, Oklahoma and Kansas

Description: From Purpose and Scope of Report: This report presents a detailed description of the ore deposits of the Picher field and all phases of geology having a bearing on their localization, origin, and the search for them. It is based mainly on work done by the U.S. Geological Survey, but it also incorporates pertinent data from published literature, especially from the outstanding work of George M. Fowler and associates, and some unpublished data obtained from the geologic staffs of the mining compa… more

Hydrogen Stark Broadening Calculations With the Unified Classical Path Theory

Description: Report discussing the case of upper and lower state interaction introduced by a unified theory using a more compact tetradic notation. The general result is then applied to the Stark broadening of hydrogen. The thermal average of the time development operator for upper and lower state interaction is presented. A simple technique for evaluating the Fourier transform of the thermal average has been developed. The final calculations based on the unified theory and on the one-electron theory are co… more
