National Uranium Resource Evaluation: Lubbock Quadrangle, Texas

Description: From purpose and scope: The Lubbock, Texas, Quadrangle of the National Topographic Map Series (NTMS), scale 1:250,000, was evaluated to identify and delineate geologic environments favorable for the occurrence of uranium. The study was conducted by the Bureau of Economic Geology (BEG) of the University of Texas at Austin, under subcontract to Bendix Field Engineering Corporation (BFEC), for the National Uranium Resource Evaluation (NURE) program, managed by the Grand Junction Office of the U.S.… more

National Uranium Resource Evaluation: Marble Canyon Quadrangle, Arizona and Utah

Description: From Purpose and Scope: "The Marble Canyon Quadrangle (2º), an area of 20,634 km2, is in northeastern Arizona (Fig. 1). The quadrangle was evaluated to a depth of 1500 m to identify geologic environments and delineate areas that exhibit characteristics favorable for the occurrence of uranium deposits. Favorable environments, as determined by surface and subsurface investigation, are those that could contain uranium deposits of at least 100 tons U3O8 in rocks with an average grade not less than … more

National Uranium Resource Evaluation: Marfa Quadrangle, Texas

Description: From abstract: "The uranium favorability of the Marfa 1° by 2° Quadrangle, Texas, was evaluated in accordance with criteria established for the National Uranium Resource Evaluation. Surface and subsurface studies, to a 1500 m (5,000 ft) depth, and chemical, petrologic, hydrochemical, and airborne radiometric data were employed. The entire quadrangle is in the Basin and Range Province and is characterized by Tertiary silicic volcanic rocks overlying mainly Cretaceous carbonate rocks and sandston… more
