Ceremonial/Cofradia (religious society) Huipil. 2 breadth garment back strap loomed in cotton with cotton and silk single-faced brocaded designs - broad and widely spaced red warp stripes amid very wide areas of ixcaco (natural brown cotton) - no trim at neck or sleeves.

A) Blouse of soft blue denim. Styled as a vest, the blouse is of pale blue, very soft denim. No sleeves, center front opening with 4 circular buttons resembling obsidian (silvery to black as light changes). At each side the side seams overlap and are open from hem partway up blouse to allow access to under layers which contain slit pockets. Blouse is lined with white fabric printed with all-over repeat of Mr John signature/logo. No other label in blouse. B) Matching belt of same fabric. Designed as an exaggerated cummerbund, widening at center and narrowing to long straps at ends. Center section with row of 17 large circular brass/gilt metal grommets. Designer's label sewn to inside of center section: "Mr. John"

Dress of blue/green ombre chiffon. Bateau neckline in front that created a shallow "V" a center back. Long kimono style sleeves with one triangular gusset and one rectangular insert at each underarm. Loose fit with a slight widening towards hemline of dress. Closure of eight navy chiffon covered buttons and button loops at center back neckline. Attached sleeveless slip of navy silk with V-neckline at front and deep V at back. Designer label:" Arnold Scaasi" Origin label: "Made / in USA"

Cocktail dress of champagne silk chiffon crepe with matching silk satin ribbon trim. High, rounded jewel neckline is trimmed with matching satin ribbon. Elbow length sleeves have satin ribbon and bow at edge. Below-knee length skirt gathers at natural waist with three layers of chiffon and underskirt of beige crepe. Center back opening with hook & eyes on outer layer of bodice and zipper on interior camisole that extends to skirt at waistline. Camisole exterior is matching champagne chiffon and is lined in flesh colored silk gauze with gauze spaghetti straps on shoulders. White grosgrain ribbon petersham with hook & eye. Cloche hat of medium brown coiled and plaited fibers. The high crown is crafted of spiraling band of plaited and coiled brown yarn(?)and incorporates looped sections, with iridescent flat ribbon wrapped around elements of the band. There is a horizontal "tuck" at back of hat, and a slight "visor" effect at front. The hat is unlined. Retailer's label sewn inside crown: "Made in France for / Neiman-Marcus". While in the style of a 1920's/1930's cloche, the materials, label, and construction date this piece to the 1960's.

Center front opening off-center to left, with hidden snap near throat and 6 buttons in concealed placket. Princess seaming for fit and flare, and with two slit pockets at hips behind side seam, which continues to form a pleat below pocket. Full-length sleeves with wide black cuffs of curly lamb/Astrakhan. Seaming at sides forms a pleated effect from waist to hem. Fully lined in dark blue silk(?) crepe.
