Slit 9" up from left side underskirt hem. Padded shoulders. Lined in black synthetic. Center front lapped opening with three hook & eyes and two snaps as the closure. Set-in modified kimono sleeves gather at the top of the arm eye and at 1-1/2" cuffs. The cuffs fasten with a single loop and covered shank button. The sleeves are open/slit along the outer edge and under arm. Natural waist seam with full-length, semi-full red polyester silk underskirt and printed chiffon over skirt. The underskirt is slit at the side seams. The bodice is fully lined in red polyester silk. Elasticized waistline. Shoulder pads. Designer's label at center back neckline: "Hanae Mori" Fiber content/care tag, union label and style/size tag at right side seam of lining. B) Scarf/sash of matching printed chiffon. Long narrow rectangular shape with rolled hem. Worn as a scarf it would hang to mid-calf. Worn as a sash it would be hem length.

Evening dress of floral and butterfly patterned silk chiffon over same patterned silk surah in orange, pink and light blue. Chiffon fabric has "Hanae Mori" signature in pattern. Fitted, slightly empire bodice with moderate, round, bound neckline. Flared, full-length raglan sleeves of silk chiffon. The sleeves are slit at the underarm seam from the elbow to the wrist. Center back zipper closure from neck to hip line with a single hook & eye at the neckline. Over skirt secured at waistline with four suspended, covered snaps. Slightly raised empire waist seam with semi-fitted, full length skirt. Ombre velvet belt in shades of yellow/tan to pale green. Inside back yoke hanging to shoulder blades. Three Japanese characters worked in red thread below the inside back collar line. Contrasting warp and weft threads of blue and brown. Unlined.

Long raglan sleeves with 3/4" banded cuff and ruffle; button closure of black plastic button with barred buttonhole. Wedding uchikake (padded hem kimono) of ecru rinzu (silk patterned like damask) background with embroidered ume and branch (plum blossoms) designs in metallic gold and silk green, orange, and yellow threads in the foreground. Partially lined in orange silk of two different colors. Hand-sewn. Padding is found through out garment - thickest remaining layers at hem, wrist-opening of sleeve and front collar panel. Lining is also rinzu (damask styled) silk - but unadorned, of similar pale color. No mons (or family crests) on this garment.

Wedding uchikake (padded hem kimono) of white polyester with large silver embroidery cranes, silver metallic thread lining, which shows at bottom hem, which is padded. Cranes in flight indicate younger bride, Long sleeves, indicating youth. Metallic lining is very modern, likely to have been made for tourist market. Corners of front retain protective covers which are taken off when worn.

Ensemble of magenta silk chiffon. (A) Tunic style top of printed chiffon with bodice in lotus flower motif. Low crossover, V-shaped front with closure of two covered snaps. Long flowing, bell-shaped sleeves and flared skirt. Skirt and sleeve hems have monofilament inserted to give body and shape. Bodice lined in light blue rayon chiffon. Designer's label at center back neckline: "(Japanese characters) / Hanea Mori " Retailer's label at center back neckline: "Neiman-Marcus" Content/care label at center back neckline. Kimono "tomesode" of black silk with small white heraldic Mon crests scattered across the upper garment. Inner lining of red silk printed with floral scape. Knee length; loops for fastening on both inside and outside. Single small label at inside collar: "Made in Japan".

Man's jacket in Japanese ghee style. Black basket weave double-faced fabric of heavy, 100% cotton. Exterior with red and white accent stripes on shoulders running down the 3/4 length sleeves, and horizontally around lower part of coat. On collar, running down front are white Kanji characters. Center front opening with no fasteners. On back is single large Kanji character in white on red circle with white border. Design on inside is printed into fabric, of ladder, fire with smoke, and water running down. Discharge printed, drawing color out, then printed over with red. Warp and weft are two distinct fibers, one allows dye to come out, other does not. Below-knee-length, with wide, rounded neckline and flounce of same fabric as ruffle around neckline. Long sleeves with ruffle cuffs of same fabric. Skirt gathers slightly into natural waistline with sewn-in gathered elastic band with two "string" belt loops. A ruffle/flounce of same fabric is around lower part of skirt, the upper edge of which is about knee-height at left side, and curving down to right edge. Center back opening with 5 self-covered buttons-and-loops above waist, hook and eye at neckline and waist, and a single hidden snap below waist. Built-in shoulder pads. Torso lined in green rayon. Designer's label at inside left back neckline: "Hanae Mori" Care/content/size/origin label directly below designer's label: Outer layer, 100% polyester, lining 100% rayon, size 8, made in Japan, dry clean only". The bodice is heavily beaded with black and white bugle beads repeating the circle motif. Center back zipper closure from mid-back to hip line. Semi-fitted, full-length, black on white op-art printed, heavy silk underskirt with gathered, printed concentric circle chiffon overskirt. The bodice is lined in white rayon faille. The skirt is lined in white jacquard rayon with the logo "Mori Hanea" woven into the fabric. Turned and bound hem. Two patch pockets with flaps and ivory satin covered button on front at sides. Princess seams. Inverted pleat in back starts at waistline; half belt band on back waistline is finished inside princess seams. Lined in blue rayon jacquard with "Mori Hanae" imprint. Kimono of white silk dyed with an all-over pattern of shibori in a pale orange/pink, which creates a tiny grid with dark brownish dots at center of each square. Traditional style with mid-length sleeves. Snaps at collar for removable collar. Lined in silk, upper part of light brown (resembles tea dyed?), lower part of white, and lower hem of orange/red.

A) Coat of black wool/cashmere blend. Single breasted, large notched lapels, in the car/pant/suburban style. B) Decorative overlay is made of bright red cotton/polyester blend. Coat sleeves fit in supportive arm holes that are connected by support structure fabric across the back of shoulders. Long ribbons connect to armseye and support layers and flow down past length of coat. Flowers of the same material but variations in color are attached to ribbons. Red overlay should be tied close so that most of the coat is covered. Designer's label: "Comme des Garçons"

Japanese Kasuri (woven panel). Combination of warp and weft cotton double dyed kasuri (ikat) create bold geometric pattern - fish created solely by weft kasuri. This type of combined ikats is known as 'e-gasuri' - delicately drawn fish motif alternating with bold geometric blocks. Indigo dyed Kasuri panels were woven in narrow strips of approximately 13 " W because of the size of the loom. They were then sewn into kimono, futonji (futon covers), zabuton (sitting cushions), furoshiki (traditional Japanese wrapping cloth), and noren (room dividers).
