Description: Hat of black velvet. Styled as a modified Breton hat, the tall, cylindrical crown is gently domed, and encircled by the wide brim, which extends out and turns up to vertical. The "underside" of the brim is faced with the same black velvet. The crown is lined in black silk(?) satin, and has a black grosgrain ribbon inner hatband. Designer's label on inner hatband: "Givenchy / Paris"; "Made in / France".

Hat is constructed with an under-structure of a short black jersey covered cylindrical ring over which fits a tailored blue silk scarf, fitting around ring, and draping freely off the back. Description: Hat of braided navy straw. Similar to a pillbox hat, the cylindrical crown is slightly domed, and surmounted by a sphere at top center made of navy satin braid. The whole is overlaid with blue veiling/netting. Unlined, with inner dark blue grosgrain ribbon hatband. Designer's label at inner hatband: "Cedar Crest / Original" Accompanied by a single hatpin, the head covered with blue fabric matching the hat.
