Designed as a small turban, the conic crown is formed as a swirl of silk pleats with shallow, 1/2" upturned edge at base simulating a brim, with a narrow 1/4 inch wide hat band of same fabric. Description: Hat of brown felt. The domed crown is "sunken" within the sides of the rim, creating a wall around it. Rolled brim extends around sides and front only. Styled somewhat as a "sailor hat", the low, slightly domed crown is encircled by a band of matching dark blue grosgrain ribbon, with a shell-shaped decoration of the same ribbon at front left.
