The Europeans

Evening coat
Evening coat of black and white satin. Approx. knee-length, with gently rounded V neckline, and center front opening with no closures. Modified "cocoon coat", with a full cut and no fit. 3/4 or slightly longer sleeves with broad cuff with large circular black braid covered non-functional button on each, the button covering a hidden snap. Diagonally set welt pockets at front hips. Lined in cream satin, which gives slight "piped" effect to outer edges. Designer's label at inside back collar: "Bill Blass" Evidence of large removed tag below designer's label.
Jacket
Jacket of abstract floral printed cotton. Short jacket with rounded neckline and full-length sleeves. Overall printed pattern of large flower blossoms in abstract/impressionistic style in yellows, pinks, reds, blues and greens. Center front zipper opening, with pronounced white zipper. On the front of the jacket are four inset zippers matching center front zipper, two above and two below, angled, with large white leather tassels hanging from the zipper pulls. They give the appearance of pockets. The zippers are functional, but there is no pocket inside - they open to the inside of the jacket. Matching zippers and leather tassels on pulls at end of each of the long sleeves. Jacket is lined in a light tan/dark ivory cotton fabric. Attached shoulder pads. Designer's label: Bill Blass

Ensemble - Jacket, Skirt, Blouse and Scarf
Ensemble of teal silk Ottoman. The suit consists of a jacket and skirt, blouse, and scarf. The jacket is of horizontally ribbed teal silk, banded on the bias, has a rounded neckline, is long sleeved, and has princess seaming for a tailored fit. The sleeves have soft pleating at the shoulders, and there are 3 circular gold buttons set with rhinestones at each cuff. There is a center front closure with 4 large buttons matching the style of sleeve buttons and one hidden snap at top. The buttonholes are hidden in the seam of the opening. The jacket is lined in black silk. The jacket has designer's label sewn inside at back of neck: "Richard Brooks". The matching skirt is of the same silk Ottoman, below-knee length, with soft pleats at front and darts at back from waistband down 5 1/2". Small slit at center back from hem upwards. The sides are cut on straight vertical stripe. The waistband has hook and two eyes, and there is a center back zipper closure. The skirt is lined in teal silk. There are no labels in the skirt. The blouse is of a thin teal green and metallic gold jacquard, woven with an ornate all-over paisley pattern. There is a banded collar and slight pleating/gathering on front at yoke, and at top of the long sleeves. Center back zipper closure extends from collar almost to hem, and has two hook-and-eyes at collar. The blouse has attached shoulder pads. There is no label in the blouse. An accompanying scarf is of iridescent teal silk chiffon, edged with the same jacquard materials the blouse is made from. There is no label on the scarf. Designed for Texas Governor Ann Richards. The silk is from Abraham Fabric.
Ensemble - Jacket, Skirts and Blouse
Ensemble of rose silk. The suit consists of a jacket, two skirts and a blouse. The jacket is made from a 1930's sari of pale pink silk embroidered with gold and silver threads, beads, and pink sequins in designs of vines, flowers and abstract line patterns. Jacket has a floating yoke and full leg-o-mutton sleeves with long narrow cuffs that have zipper closures. The jacket itself has a center front opening with no closure. The neckline, edges of closure, hem, and cuffs are edged in heavily beaded bands added by the designer. Designer's label sewn inside back at neck: "Richard Brooks". The blouse is of heavy pink silk, collarless, with round neckline. It is short-sleeved, with pleating at the shoulder. Vertical seaming on front and back for structure. There is a concealed center-back closure with snap at top and 5 clear plastic circular buttons down the length. The blouse is lined in a dark, dusty pink silk and has sewn-in shoulder pads. Designer's label is sewn inside back to the left of the opening: "Richard Brooks". The two skirts are are both of identical pink silk, matching the blouse, of identical construction. One is knee-length, and the other is full-length. Both are lined in the same pink silk as the jacket. The short skirt has designer's label sewn in at waistband: "Richard Brooks". Worn by Governor Ann Richards when she spoke at the Gridiron Club in Washington, 1992.

A) Eyeglass case of opalescent white 'patent leather' covering over hard case. Gold-tone studs at ends with CC logo and pressed "Chanel" on outer lid. Inside of lid has "Chanel" label. B) Lens cleaning cloth of black jacquard fabric in CC logo.

Pair of tan and black leather sling-back pumps. Uppers of tan/brown leather with black leather toe cap. Sling-back strap with gilt metal buckle. 2 3/4" continental heel covered in tan/brown leather. Shoe lined in putty colored leather. Sole of natural brown leather. Stamped in each shoe: "Made in France"; Chanel / [logo]". Stamped inside upper: "105002 37". Stamped on sole: "37 / DE / [logo] / Coupe monte fini main". Size: 7; 23 cm. long; 8 cm. at widest; 14cm. at highest; Heel: 6. cm. (2 3/4") high on axis with cap.
Novelty woven jacket
Jacket of red, white, and navy blue (almost black) wool/acrylic blend novelty twill weave in a plaid design. The cuffs, collar, center front opening, and top of pockets are trimmed with red, white, and navy blue striped silk crepe. Collarless. Four pockets on front with a gold colored button on each; three gold colored buttons at each cuff; gold chain weight inside jacket at hem. Lined in navy blue silk. Dancing Between the Hunt and the Hearth
The large vertical painting consists of a nearly black ground with words and numbers in a light colors. Along the bottom edge is a highly textured surface with the words, beauty and duty, repeated across the bottom edge. Arrows and calculations appear across the dark field. In the upper right is a gold square and some gold splashes of color and texture.
I'll Tumble For You
The vertically oriented painting consists of many textures, colors and motifs. The dark ground is richly textured and covered with words, numbers and calculations sometimes partially obliterated. Two large heart shapes face each other, one in the bottom half of the canvas and the other in the top half. They are also richly covered in texture with letters and numbers. About a dozen forks are attached across the surface of the painting; they tumble from the top to the bottom. Flanking the top and bottom edges are some large X marks with thick top and bottom bars.
Mechanical Music
The large vertical painting consists of a dark ground. In the lower portion, five wooden spoons are attached. Along the upper edge is an impression of a hand and a plus and minus sign flank the right and left edges in the upper portion of the canvas. At a diagonal in the lower portion appears a long spatula or spoon shape nestled in a sandy brown area. The surface of the work is complex with numbers, letters and calculations barely visible.
