Evening Ensemble - Coat, Dress, and Belt

Description: Three piece evening ensemble in metallic blue/purple, black and gold brocade consisting of: A) Dressmaker style coat, calf-length. Closes on left with two covered snaps. Long, straight sleeves. Notched lapel. Lined in royal blue silk. Designer's label at left inside seam: "Adele Simpson" B) Dress. Calf-length, sleeveless, and with a standing collar, the dress is slightly A-line with empire seam. Center back zipper with two hook & loops at collar. Lined in royal blue silk. C) Belt for dress, of same fabric and with rectangular buckle covered in same fabric. Stamped "B Adele Simpson 10C3"

Description: Hat of light brown leather printed with dark brown "squiggles". The domed crown is surmounted by a circular button covered with same leather. Around base of crown is a narrow band of same leather, tied, with trailing ends. The wide, floppy brim bends downwards. Unlined, with the leather is backed with a felt-like material. Inner brown grosgrain ribbon hatband. No labels in the hat.

Description: Hat of black vinyl and black straw. The cylindrical crown is of black vinyl, flattened at top. The black straw brim is set off-center to crown, turned up at outside edge to create high outer edge. Set at back edge of upturned brim is a bow of black grosgrain ribbon. Lined in black fabric, and with a black grosgrain ribbon inner hatband. Label sewn to inner hatband: "Skywood / original"

Description: Hat of beige felt. Styled somewhat as a fedora, the cylindrical crown has a sunken, flat crown. Around the base of the crown is a wide band of golden satin ribbon, and narrow cords of gold, bronze, and silver. All tie at back, the cords becoming tassels. The wide brim curves up at front and left, down to right and back. The hat is unlined, with a wide inner hatband of pale peach. Combined Designer/Retailer's label: "Original / Helen Smith / Marshall Field Annex - Chicago" Manufacturer's stamp for felt body: "Merrimac / Merrivale / Fur Felt"

The low, domed crown is open at top along a split from front to back, and is encircled and almost covered by wide bands of red, white, and blue horizontally striped grosgrain ribbon, with crossing and trailing ends at back. The wide brim curves downwards. Hat is unlined, with inner off-white grosgrain ribbon hatband. Designer's label inside: "Sonnenfeld's / St. Louis"
