Ceremonial skirt

Description: Ceremonial Skirt of ochre-orange cotton with purple stripes and metallic thread. One piece of fabric sew into a floor-length tube, with tripes running horizontally. Textile created on a backstrap loom, design motifs hand embroidered with couched metallic threads, with decorative band of densely-embroidered geometric motifs at the bottom hem.

Pants

Description: Man's Pantalones (Pants). Handwoven back strap loomed in cotton. White with purple stripes about 1/2" wide. Hand embroidered cotton design motifs at lower leg. Hand-stitched construction.

Mink hat

Description: Hat of mink. Brimless hat of mink tails, the crown slightly peaked at center and with tails laid to radiate from center of peak to outer edge. Lined in a light brown satin. Label: “D’ Marque / New York” Union label.

Coat

Description: Evening coat of black velvet. Full length; fitted at waist. Long sleeves are gathered and puffed at the shoulders and fitted at the wrist; padded at top of sleeve to support puffed shoulder. Webbed collar with large flowers of matching velvet at the front sides of the neckline under the collar edge. Center front closure of two self-covered buttons and loops. Lined in black silk crepe.

Knit ensemble

Description: Separates set of maroon mercerized cotton(?) knit, most likely handmade. a) Beret-style hat with hatpin. b) Sweater blouse with collar and button closure at neckline, long sleeves. c) Cardigan with collar and button closures along front placket. Long sleeves; patch pockets at sides. d) Skirt with elastic sewn at waistband. e) Belt with square, self-covered buckle closure; 1" wide.

Description: At-home dress of pale blue net lace. Ankle length. Wide 3/4 length sleeves; deep V-shaped neckline. Center front closure of 8 self covered buttons and loops at waist. Attached belt of matching lace with rectangular buckle. Lined in matching pale blue crepe.

Dress

Description: Dress of nylon with gold metallic embroidery. The fabric is a printed nylon with abstract ikat floral designs in browns, yellows, and oranges on a cream ground, with areas of metallic embroidered leaf forms over the whole of the dress. The formal dress is full-length, with a slight train. Sleeveless, it has wide straps and a shallow rounded neckline, which deepens into a V in back. Full length with inserted waist styled straight at waist and V-shaped at bottom. Left side zipper closure. Belt loops at sides; belt missing.

Description: Dress of sheer peach organdy. Street-length, short standing collar with open square notch at front of throat. Short sleeves. Short center-front opening below collar notch, secured with 2 hidden snaps. Left-side under-arm opening with 2 further hidden snaps. Dress is ornamented with stitched detail. Capelet

Description: Caplet of ermine. A) Short cape/caplet of white ermine fur. No collar, with high neckline. Single armhole at right side, set low, allowing lower arm to come through. Left side with no armhole, but with extra fullness so caplet drapes over arm. Fastens at upper left with hook and loop. As designed, the strips of fur appear diagonal when worn, creating the image of the piece being cut on the bias. Lined in pale peach/cream silk. Evening dress

Description: Evening gown of ivory satin and chiffon. Tubular blouson bodice has 1" shoulder straps and center back closure of hook & eyes with 2" wide bow and trailing ends. Fitted tubular satin slip insert at hips with A-line over skirt of cream chiffon trimmed in 6" band of baby ostrich feathers (swans down?) to just below thigh. Full length lower paneled skirt is flared. Bodice lined in self with grosgrain ribbon petersham; skirt unlined.
