The shoes are designed with a rounded toe, the uppers covered in a brocade/tapestry cloth consisting of floral forms in greens, reds, blues, etc. on an ivory ground. Heels taper to base. Brocade slippers

Description: Pair of slippers of red silk and gold metallic brocade. The shoes are designed with pointed toes, and a panel of gold leather that extends from below the throat, up and over the instep, and almost to the instep, sewn down, and echoing the point of the toes. Crossed with a gold cord bow with large rhinestones set at each end. Almost flats, the shoes have low, carved heels with a profile similar to a compacted Louis heel. Description: Mola. Decorative reverse appliquéd panel in predominantly red cotton in butterfly design motif. Backed in dark turquoise blue fabric. These panels were originally used as the front and back of a Kuna woman’s blouse. This example appears to be for trade. Measures 18" x 14"

Description: Caftan. Vintage Guatemalan skirt (possibly from Santa Maria de Jesus) remade into a contemporary caftan. Original skirt handwoven on treadle loom all cotton. Hand embroidered cotton randa (joining seam). Notice the handmade fabric toggle closure at neckline to complement original design of skirt.

Description: Cape made from an antique Japanese obi brocade of red, gold, orange, browns, etc. on a cream ground. Embroidery is of cranes, mums, and other flowers. The cape is mid-length, with one button and loop at neck and with "tie" of same material as an extension of standing collar. Center front opening. Box pleats at sides. Sleeveless, with flap-covered slits at center front sides for arms. Lined in ecru silk with inside slit pocket at left. Label: "Kobayashi / Made in Tokyo Japan"
