COS: A new MeSH term embedding incorporating corpus, ontology, and semantic predications

Description: Article studying the problem of incorporating corpus, ontology, and semantic predications to learn the embeddings of MeSH terms. The authors propose a novel framework, Corpus, Ontology, and Semantic predications-based MeSH term embedding (COS), to generate high-quality MeSH term embeddings.

CPS: Medium: Integrating sensors, controls, and ecotoxicology with decoupled aquaponics using brackish groundwater and desalination concentrate for sustainable food production

Description: Data management plan for the grant, "CPS: Medium: Integrating sensors, controls, and ecotoxicology with decoupled aquaponics using brackish groundwater and desalination concentrate for sustainable food production." This project aims to develop a cyber-physical system (CPS) testbed of integrated sensors, controls, machine learning, and ecotoxicology tools to engineer sustainable food production systems based on aquaculture using brackish water. The testbed includes an automated recirculating aqu… more

Crinet: A computational tool to infer genome-wide competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) interactions

Description: This article develops a computational tool named Crinet to infer genome-wide ceRNA networks addressing critical drawbacks. Crinet-inferred ceRNA groups that were consistently involved in the immune system related processes could be important assets in the light of the studies confirming the relation between immunotherapy and cancer. The source code of Crinet is in R and available at https://github.com/bozdaglab/crinet.

A Critical Review of Laser Shock Peening of Aircraft Engine Components

Description: Article describes how many aviation accidents are caused by the failure of aircraft engine components, and engine blades are especially vulnerable to high-cycle fatigue fracture in severe working environments as well as to impact damage caused by foreign objects. This review provides an overview of the development of LSP for use in treating aircraft engine components over the past three decades, with a brief introduction to the development of high-energy pulsed lasers for LSP.

The Decomposition of Human-Written Book Summaries

Description: In this paper, the authors evaluate the extent to which human-written book summaries can be obtained through cut-and-paste operations from the original book. The authors analyze the effect of the parameters involved in the decomposition algorithm, and highlight the distinctions in coverage obtained for different summary types.

Deep learning for peptide identification from metaproteomics datasets

Description: This article explores a proposed deep-learning-based algorithm called DeepFilter for improving peptide identifications from a collection of tandem mass spectra. The authors find that DeepFilter is believed to generalize properly to new, previously unseen peptide-spectrum-matches and can be readily applied in peptide identification from metaproteomics data.

Deep Submicron Extended-Gate Field-Effect (EGFET) Based on Transistor Association Technique for Chemical Sensing

Description: This article investigates the design and characterization of a transistor association (TA)-based extended-gate field-effect transistor (EGFET). Prototypes were manufactured using a 130 nm standard complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) process and compared with devices presented in recent literature.

Deformation behavior and strengthening effects of an eutectic AlCoCrFeNi2.1 high entropy alloy probed by in-situ synchrotron X-ray diffraction and post-mortem EBSD

Description: Article describes how high energy synchrotron X-ray diffraction was used during tensile testing of an as-cast eutectic AlCoCrFeNi2.1 high entropy alloy. The authors determine for the first time the volume fractions of existing phases, and they further detail their role on the alloy deformation behavior.
