3D Atom Probe Tomography Study on Segregation of Yttrium in Modified Aluminum-Silicon Alloys

Description: In this article, yttrium segregation behavior in Al-Si alloys has been studied using the three-dimensional atom probe tomography technique. Al-Si alloys were prepared by casting method, and yttrium was added to modify the eutectic silicon morphology in these alloys. The results indicated that yttrium is preferentially located within the Si phase, with the highest concentration at the interface between eutectic Al and eutectic Si.

Algorithmically Optimized Hemispherical Dome as a Secondary Optical Element for the Fresnel Lens Solar Concentrator

Description: This article focuses on a way to maximize the concentration acceptance product (CAP), while using the minimum SOE and receiver geometry at a given f-number and incidence angle (also referred to as the tracking error angle). The laws of polychromatic light refraction along with trigonometry and spherical geometry were utilized to optimize the POE grooves, SOE radius, receiver size, and SOE–receiver spacing.

Application of a Thermoplastic Polyurethane/Polylactic Acid Composite Filament for 3d-Printed Personalized Orthosis

Description: Article exploring a suitable material for designing and fabricating personalized, cost-effective and bio-degradable orthoses. A finger orthosis was chosen as an example to explore a suitable material, personalized design method, and fabrication with a fuse-deposition-modeling (FDM) open-source 3D printer. Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU)/polylactic acid (PLA) composite filaments were explored for 3D printing.
