The Myth of the Besieged Fortress: Soviet Mass Perception in the 1920s - 1930s
This work discusses Soviet mass perception from the 1920s to the 1930s. This work was supported by the Research Support Scheme of the Open Society Support Foundation, grant No. 805/1998, and by the Centre for Russian and East European Studies, University of Toronto, Canada. The work has also greatly benefitted from the discussion at the workshops held by the Stalin-Era Research and Archives Project at CREES, University of Toronto.

Paper discussing non-Poisson processes and regression to equilibrium versus equilibrium correlation functions.
Projecting on Polynomial Dirac Spinors
In this paper, the authors adapt Axler and Ramey's method of constructing the harmonic part of a homogeneous polynomial to the Fischer decomposition associated to Dirac operators acting on polynomial spinors.
Real event detection and the treatment of congestive heart failure: an efficient technique to help cardiologists to make crucial decisions
Paper discussing the treatment of congestive heart failure. Abstract: Using a method of entropic analysis of time series we establish the correlation between heartbeat long-range memory and mortality risk in patients with congestive heart failure.
Renewal aging and linear response
Paper discussing the linear response to an external perturbation of a renewal process, in an aging condition that, with no perturbation, would yield super-diffusion.

TableMaker: An ad hoc Query Tool for Relational Databases
This paper discusses an ad hoc query tool for relational databases. Most Web servers hosting biological data limit users to a defined set of search options and output formats that are short of the whole range of options available to users with direct database access. However, to make full use of the wealth of data in the database resource, it is desirable to have an intermediate solution that provides a broad range of flexible query and output options through a Web portal.
