[Booklet: Annie Webb Blanton of Denton for the thirteenth congressional district]
Annie Webb Blanton (1870-1945) was an American suffragist, educator, and author of a series of grammar textbooks. Blanton was elected Superintendent of Texas Public Instruction in 1918, making her the first woman in Texas elected to statewide office. She was born in Houston and at 18 moved to Austin to attend classes at the University of Texas where she graduated in 1899 with a Bachelors of Literature. In 1901, Dr. Blanton began teaching English at North Texas Normal School in Denton, Texas where she remained for 17 years. The school is part of the now University of North Texas.

At the top of the document is an illustration of the Texas Coat of Arms; a star of five points, encircled by a wreath of olive and live oak branches The Certificate is signed by President William Herschel Bruce and President of the Board of Regents M. [Men's Gymnasium]
Photograph of the Men's Gymnasium on the North Texas campus in Denton. The building possesses four sets of doors, and several trees are planted around it. A car is parked on the curb. This building became known as the Men's Gymnasium in 1922. Prior to this date, it was also known as the Model Training School and Laboratory School. The building was demolished in 1953.
