Description: James Caesar Petrillo, President of the American Federation of Musicians, called a strike effective July 31, 1942, prohibiting union members from making any disc recordings or electrical transcriptions. A Communicative Analysis of the Role of Television Coverage of the 1968 Democratic National Convention

Description: This study investigates how television coverage of the 1968 Democratic National Convention largely determined the negative public impression of the convention and its candidate. The coverage had a definite effect on the workings of the convention through the images and information it conveyed to the delegates. Harry S. Truman: An Examination and Evaluation of His Use of Ethical Appeal in Selected Speeches from the 1948 Presidential Campaign

Description: The study begins with an overview of the 1948 political situation, followed by the evaluation of Truman's use of ethical appeal using criteria developed by Thonssen, Baird, and Braden. Each of their three constituents of ethical appeal--character, sagacity, and good will--is applied to four speeches. The Impact of Hearing Impairment upon Communication Apprehension and Self-Disclosure

Description: The present study used a variety of procedures to investigate which selected communication factors interfered in the interpersonal communication process between hearing-impaired and hearing persons.
