Discontinuous Thermal Expansions and Phase Transformations in Crystals at Higher Temperatures

Description: The purpose of this investigation is to make more detailed studies of transformations. Fourteen compounds have been examined by high temperature X-ray diffraction for this purpose. The investigations have been carried out in such a way as to reveal: 1. the existence of transformations, 2. the influence of polarizability on thermal expansion, 3. the anisotropy of expansion, and 4. the discontinuity of thermal expansion.

A Study of Rorschach Intellectual Indicators in Adolescents

Description: There seems to be a need for further exploration in this area for the purpose of clarifying which Rorschach indices are indicators of intelligence. R. W. W%, D%, F+%, A%, H, H%, M, and N have each been selected for statistical analysis on the basis of one or more of these three factors: (1) Rorschach, Klopfer and Kelly, and Beck have stated that the index is an indicator of intelligence, (2) extensive definition of the index implies some relation to intelligence, (3) past literature indicates t… more

The Occult as a Dramatic Device in Shakespearean Tragedy

Description: What this study will demonstrate is that Shakespeare's use of occult manifestations is not as superficial as it is sometimes said to be. On the contrary, it is the contention of this study that, especially in certain of the major tragedies, occult phenomena are integral to the main action, provide the play with essential motivation, and, in fact, are indispensable to a proper resolution.

Synthesis of Ether-free Organomagnesium Compounds

Description: At the time this work was begun, there was some confusion about the technique necessary for the successful synthesis of organomagnesium compounds in hydrocarbon solvents and without solvents. It was decided to repeat the work of Bryce-Smith and Zakharkin. Thus began the study of the synthesis of organomagnesium compounds without solvents; the study of the reaction products of these organomagnesium compounds in hydrocarbons plus 2-butanone compared to the reaction products of the corresponding … more

Application of the Wigner Formalism to a Slightly Relativistic Quantum Plasma

Description: A slightly relativistic fermion gas is described by the dynamical theory obtained from the Wigner distribution function. The problem is approached in a self-consistent manner including the two-body Darwin Hamiltonian.
