- This thesis is a record of the results of a study made to obtain information about the relation of food, rest, and recreation to the height and the weight of the children in the fifth grade of Winnetka School, Dallas, Texas. The purpose of the work was three-fold: (1) to gain a better understanding of the nutritive value of foods and thereby put this understanding into practice; (2) to recognize the three essentials of good health: namely, diet, rest, knowledge of health rules; (3) and to create a desire to practice them.

- An Analytical Study of the Practices in the Administration and Conduct of Women's Fencing Programs in Colleges in Texas with the Development of a Manual on Fencing for College Women
- The purpose of this study was to determine the number of colleges within the State of Texas which offer fencing in their Women's Physical Education Programs. An attempt was made, by mailing questionnaires to sixty-two colleges in the State, to discover the number of colleges which offer fencing, and the present practices in the teaching of fencing. Since most publications on fencing are written by the "professionals and the fencing masters," an effort has also been made to develop a fencing manual to be used by the individuals who have had the fundamentals of fencing, and as a guide to the beginning fencers in order to equip them with the necessary material for teaching and learning fencing.

This information was gathered from the following sources: annexation files of the city secretary and city engineer, annual reports of the city of Fort Worth, Texas, the charter of the city of Fort Worth, Texas, the History of Fort Worth Park system, the minutes of Public Recreation Board, and the personnel of city officials.
- A Quarter of a Century of Health and Physical Education in North Texas State Teachers College
- The purpose of this study was to trace the history and development of the Health and Physical Education Program in North Texas State Teachers College from the year 1914 to 1939 to determine the contribution this department has made in the development of the College. As a reslut of the foregoing study, the following conclusions were reached: 1. The success of the Health and the Physical Education Department was due to the foundation upon which it was built; this foundation was laid by responsible and well-trained men and women. 2. The personnel has increased from one teacher to nine regular staff members. 3. The number of credit courses in the department has increased in twenty-five years from one to forty-three. 4. The students trained in this department are equipped to teach all phases of Health and Physical Education work in the public and private schools, and in the various types of summer camps. 5. The Health and Physical Education facilities have grown from a two room gymnasium in the basement of the Historical Building, a baseball field, a tennis court and basketball court, to a well-equipped Health and Physical Education plant. This plant now consists of a modern fire-proof sanitarium with a staff of twodoctors, three graduate nurses, a dietition, and a housekeeper; two gymnasium; an athletic field house; two gridirons; stadium; swimming pool; four croquet courts; one outdoor concrete slab used for dancing and skating; basketball and tennis courts; an archery range; an outdoor theatre; a miniature golf course; putting greens; thirteen tennis courts; picnic grounds; and space for horse shoe pitching; soft ball and other games. 6. - A comparative study was made of the effects of varied time intervals of rest between warm-up and performance in the 440-yard dash by students in selected physical education classes at North Texas State University during the spring semester of 1967. This study was made to determine if the length of a rest interval after cessation of warm-up activity has any significant effect upon the subsequent performance in a 440-yard dash, and to determine if any length of rest interval facilitates performance in a 440-yard dash.
