A Study of Selected Factors Related to Permanency in Science Teaching

Description: The purpose of this study is to gather information related to some factors which are considered to be characteristic of science teaching; to attempt to identify some elements of permanency in science teaching; and to analyze some relationships between the results of the above two criteria with the view of establishing some factors which may be useful as predictors of permanency, or indicative of patterns of permanency, in science teaching.

A Water Quality Study of Lake Texoma

Degradation of Complex Carbon Compounds by Marine Actinomycetes

Description: The purpose of this paper is to present a comparative study of marine bacteria, molds and actinomycetes in regard to their ability to degrade certain pure and mixed complex compounds possibly occurring in the lagoon waste traps of the Texas Gulf Coast. Taxonomic Analysis of Marine Actinomycetic Isolates

Description: Though this current study was initiated independently and was not a test laboratory for the taxonomic sub-committee's evaluative program, the problem outlined in this treatise was also designed in an effort to test certain characteristics of the actinomycetes of both a biochemical and morphological nature. The Effect of Repeated Antigen Injections on the C' and C'4 Titers in Guinea Pig Serum

Description: In this study the effects of repeated antigen injections on total complement (C') and C'4 of guinea pig serum were investigated to determine if constant antigenic stimulation would show changes in the C' and C'4 titers. Attempts were also made to correlate any changes with variations in antibody titers during the repeated antigen injections.

Factors Involved in the Antibiotic Sensitivity of Staphylococcus Aureus

Description: It was the purpose of the present investigation to determine if sensitivity to other antibiotics can likewise be affected by subjecting S. aureus to heparin contact. It is of special interest in this problem to determine whether heparin in some manner affects the combining process of penicillin with the cells of several strains of S. aureus.
