PERT as a Management Tool

PERT as a Management Tool

Date: June 1962
Creator: Ross, William Minor
Description: The purpose of this study is to examine the three scheduling systems available today as a management tool. The first two systems--Milestone Reporting and Line-of-Balance--are essentially Gantt charts which do not appear to meet the requirements for management control of scheduling. An investigation of PERT is made to see if it will provide additional controls necessary for proper scheduling.

Magnetic Susceptibility of a Crystalline Free Radical

Magnetic Susceptibility of a Crystalline Free Radical

Date: June 1962
Creator: Smith, William C.
Description: The entirety of the investigation discussed in this paper was confined to a study of the spin resonance properties of unpaired electrons of an organic free radical. In the remainder of the paper the theory of electron spin resonance, the apparatus used in the investigation, and the experimental results obtained are discussed in that order.

Proton Nuclear Magnetic Resonance in Mica

Proton Nuclear Magnetic Resonance in Mica

Date: May 1962
Creator: Townsend, Don H.
Description: The experiments to be described here were undertaken for the purpose of determining, if possible, by NMR techniques whether or not the hydroxyl protons in mica are bound in a regular crystalline array, and, if so, whether or not the hydroxyl protons occur in reasonably isolated pairs as in waters of hydration.

Synthesis and Infrared Spectra of Substituted Phthalimidines

Synthesis and Infrared Spectra of Substituted Phthalimidines

Date: June 1962
Creator: Reeves, Linda R.
Description: A number of N-substituted-3-hydroxy-3-phenylphthal-imidines and some of the isomeric amides have been prepared in order to study changes in the infrared spectra of these compounds due to structural changes in the molecule, particularly with reference to a hydroxyl band at 3.0µ and a carbonyl band at 5.75µ.

The Effect of Aging on the Respiratory Response of Rat Heart Tissue Slices to Metabolic Inhibitors

The Effect of Aging on the Respiratory Response of Rat Heart Tissue Slices to Metabolic Inhibitors

Date: August 1962
Creator: Couch, Ernest F.
Description: This investigation was undertaken to explore biochemical changes which may occur in heart tissue with age. In this connection, the cellular enzymes were of special interest.

Assimilation of Inorganic Nitrogen by Aquatic Actinomycetes

Assimilation of Inorganic Nitrogen by Aquatic Actinomycetes

Date: August 1962
Creator: Davis, Ernst M.
Description: It was the purpose of this investigation to present laboratory data concerning the assimilation of inorganic nitrogen by the aquatic actinomycetes. The strains of aquatic actinomycetes under consideration represented a cross section of those currently under culture at North Texas State University.

Infrared Studies of Anions of Organic Acids

Infrared Studies of Anions of Organic Acids

Date: August 1962
Creator: Dyke, Maurice Arthur
Description: The present work is a part of a systematic investigation of the frequency shifts in infrared absorption produced by changing to the anions carbonyl containing acidic compounds.

The Use of Weight and Height in Calculating Lean Body Mass Indexes of Young College Women

The Use of Weight and Height in Calculating Lean Body Mass Indexes of Young College Women

Date: August 1963
Creator: Hartman, Billye Reynolds
Description: Since no lean body mass (LBM) index was available for women, the purpose of the present study was to use the formula of Behnke et al. in the calculation of an LBM Index for women.

Some Relationships between Certain Aquatic Actinomycetes and Bacillus Cereus

Some Relationships between Certain Aquatic Actinomycetes and Bacillus Cereus

Date: August 1963
Creator: Hoehn, Robert Campbell
Description: The purpose of this investigation is to determine if there was a metabolic relationship between the actinomycetes and the gram positive, spore-forming becilli in surface waters, and, if such a relationship was evident, to relate the association to the disappearances of typical actinomycete tastes and odors from waters.
