Color Preferences of Children in a Dallas Public School

Color Preferences of Children in a Dallas Public School

Date: January 1959
Creator: Foster, Lonnie George
Description: The problem of this study examines two questions which were posed. First, would color preferences of children in the N.W. Harllee School of the Dallas Independent School District be the same as those found in other studies of color preferences of elementary school children? Second, would there be differences in choices made by low academic aptitude groups and high academic aptitude groups? In an attempt to answer these questions, a series of tests was devised and administered to children grades IV through VII.

Creator: O'Glee, John Clifford
Description: Many books have been written on the battles of the Civil War. Most of these deal only with engagements between the armies; little has been written concerning the Confederate Navy. Yet the struggles of the Confederate Navy cannot be overlooked in determining why, after so many victorious battles in the field, the Confederacy still failed to defeat the Union.

Topological Groups

Topological Groups

Date: May 1960
Creator: Carry, Laroy Ray
Description: The notion of a topological group follows naturally from a combination of the properties of a group and a topological space. Since a group consists of a set G of elements which may be either finite or infinite and since this is also common to a topological space, a question is opened as to whether or not it is possible to assign a topology to a set of elements which form a group under a certain operation. Now it is possible to assign a topology to any set of elements if no restriction is placed on the topology assigned and hence this study would be of little value from the standpoint of the group itself. If however it is required that the group operation be continuous in the topological space then a very interesting theory is developed.
