Heading for 100 % renewable urban transport: Policy recommendations

Description: The brochure promotes urban transportation policy to increase the use of renewable energy to 100%. Seen globally, transport is one of the main sources of greenhouse gas emissions. Guest Editorial: Avoiding the Columbus Confusion: An Ockhamish View of Near-Death Research

Description: Article exploring the theory that contemporary belief that near-death experiences (NDEs) are glimpses of an afterlife may prevent us from realizing their more profound nature. Belief in an afterlife has not historically brought humanity a high quality of life, but NDEs seem reliably to do so, and may offer important clues about why the expanded vitality, the "eternity-consciousness," of the mystics is commonly blocked.

The Darkness of God: An Account of Lasting Mystical Consciousness Resulting from an NDE

Description: Article describing the author's near-death experience (NDE) in 1983 as a result of poisoning. Almost every feature of the experience has been antithetical to the author's prior background, both in childhood and in adult life, thereby providing evidence against reductionist explanations of NDE. An account is given of how the new consciousness is affected by various life-circumstances, and of its practical impact on the quality of living.

An Hawaiian Near-Death Experience

Description: Article presenting a case report of an Hawaiian near-death experience (NDE) from the early 1900s, which was uncovered in a turn-of-the-century monograph of Hawaiian folk tales. The account differs from others in the same volume because it appears to be a real-life account rather than a folk tale. The article describes similarities and differences from other Polynesian NDE account in the literature, a Maori NDE reported by Michael King in 1985.

The Mystery of Frightening Transcendent Experiences: A Rejoinder to Nancy Evans Bush and Christopher Bache

Description: Article reviewing Christopher Bache's perinatal account of near-death experiences (NDEs) and suggesting that it does not go far enough. The author then presents a new model, bliss/abyss, derived from the study of mysticism; shows that pleasant and frightening NDEs can be accommodated within the model; and discusses the predictions that can be drawn from the new theoretical framework.
