The Comic Element in the Novels of Thomas Wolfe

Description: As to form, Wolfe's novels are deliberately loose, because that is important to his purpose. Conceiving America as an open society of potentiality, he could do no less than remain open himself. To do otherwise would have meant impotence if not sterility. In this thesis, I shall attempt to show that the episodes, divergences, and observations all illustrate and amplify this spiritual growth.

Description: This work attempts to establish some phenomenon of a rise in titer of C'3 and C'4 due to antigenic stimulation. Normal level of complement is established and compared to other workers as well as against guinea pig levels. Young rats were bled to establish normal levels of complement. The Effects of Memory Alteration in Schizophrenic Patients Treated with Electroconvulsive Shock Therapy

First, to demonstrate the effects of the variation of convulsive-nonconvulsive electroshock treatment used in this study in relation to memory alteration in schizophrenia as measured by the Wechsler Memory Scale. Evolution of the Scherzo Through Beethoven

Description: It would be impossible to trace the evolution of the form of the scherzo without treating also to some extent the history of the minuet, as the scherzo would hardly have come into being in the way it did had there not been the minuet, even though as the scherzo grew to maturity it resembled less and less its parent-form. This thesis examines the early use and origin of the scherzo, and its use and evolution in the works of Beethoven.
