A Comparison of the Desirability and Feasibility of Accountability Measures as Perceived by Public School Administrators and Teachers
This study had three main purposes. The first was to determine the perceptions of public school administrators toward desirability and toward feasibility of accountability items. The second was to determine the perceptions of public school teachers toward desirability and toward feasibility of accountability items. The third was to compare the perceptions of administrators with those of teachers and to indicate areas where they seemed to be in agreement or disagreement.
The Relationship Between Selected Cognitive and Affective Factors and Student Teacher Effectiveness
The primary purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between selected cognitive domain criteria represented by college gradepoint average and ACT scores, selected affective domain criteria represented by scores on the MTAI and the EPPS, and success in student teaching as measured by a rating performed by the student teachers' college coordinators and the public school supervising teachers. After the examination of the findings, the following conclusions were drawn concerning the study: Grade-point averages of secondary teachers can be effectively used to predict success in student teaching; however, it did not prove to be an effective predictor of student teaching success in elementary student teachers. The ACT sub-tests of English Usage and Natural Sciences Reading proved to be a good predictor of success in student teaching among secondary teachers, but not among elementary teachers.
Role Expectations of the Texas Public High School Counselor as Perceived by Various Professional Groups
This study seeks as its purpose to establish an .objective evaluation of the counselor and his role as seen by various professional groups. The primary purpose of the investigation is to compare the perceptions of these various groups as to the tasks a counselor may perform. The study involves the distribution of an opinionn-aire to one hundred public high school counselors, one hundred public high school principals, sixty-three counselor-educators, and forty-two administrator-educators. A return percentage of seventy-nine has been realized.
