Dry blood spot samples to monitor immune-associated mRNA expression in intervention studies: Impact of Baker's yeast beta glucan

Description: Article describes how monitoring immunological response to physical stressors in a field setting is challenging because existing methods require a laboratory visit and traditional blood collection via venipuncture. The purpose of this study was to determine if our optimized dry blood spot (DBS) methodology yields sufficient total RNA to quantify the effect of Baker's Yeast Beta Glucan supplementation on post-exercise mRNA expression.

Dual activity of anthocyanidin reductase supports the dominant plant proanthocyanidin extension unit pathway

Description: This article presents research on genetic and biochemical analyses that shows ANR has dual activity and is involved not only in the production of (−)-epicatechin starter units but also in the formation of 2,3-cis-leucocyanidin to serve as (−)-epicatechin extension units. The results find that differences in the product specificities of ANRs account for the presence/absence of PA polymerization and the compositions of PAs across plant species

Dual levitated coils for antihydrogen production

Description: Article on theoretical and experimental efforts to use dual levitated coils to confine relatively large, cold, dense non-drifting recombining antihydrogen plasmas. The theoretical effort includes the development of a classical trajectory Monte Carlo simulation of confinement. The experimental effort includes levitation of a NdFeB permanent ring magnet, which produces a magnetic field that is qualitatively similar to the field that would be produced by the two coaxial superconducting magnetic co… more

Dual Mechanisms of Coniferyl Alcohol in Phenylpropanoid Pathway Regulation

Description: This article reports that a major monomer unit of the lignin polymer can function as a signal molecule to trigger proteolysis of the enzyme L-phenylalanine ammonia-lyase, the entry point into the lignin biosynthetic pathway, and feedback regulate the expression levels of lignin biosynthetic genes.

Dual-Wavelength Terahertz Metasurfaces with Independent Phase and Amplitude Control at Each Wavelength

Description: This article describes the design of a dual-wavelength achromatic metasurface-based deflector deflecting the incident wave to the same direction at two selected wavelengths, which has circumvented the critical limitation of strong wavelength dependence in the planar metasurface-based devices caused by the resonant nature of the plasmonic structures.

Duals of Tirilman spaces have unique subsymmetric basic sequences

Description: Article describes how the Tirilman spaces were introduced by Casazza and Shura as variations of the spaces constructed by Tzafriri. We prove that all subsymmetric basic sequences in the dual space are equivalent to its canonical subsymmetic but not symmetric basis.
