Archaeological Investigations at Five Prehistoric Sites at Lewisville Lake, Denton County, Texas

Description: This report describes the results of excavations performed by the Institute of Applied Sciences at the Lewisville Lake project, Denton County, Texas. This field work, conducted in 1988, consisted of excavation of five prehistoric sites deemed eligible for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places. The prehistoric sites include Early/Middle/Archaic to Late Prehistoric II occupations. New data were obtained pertaining to resource utilization, past environments, and adaptive strategies. These analyses documented changes in past environments and associated human responses. Adaptive strategies included changes in territoriality, raw material acquisition and faunal procurement.

Historic Archaeology of the Johnson and Jones Farmsteads in the Ray Roberts Lake Area: 1850-1950

Description: This study represents the findings of research done on the Jones and Johnson farms, "situated in Johnson Branch Park in the north-central portion of the Ray Roberts Lake area." The purpose of the study was to offset future disturbances and damages to these farmsteads, and it includes "archival investigations, architectural documentation, oral-history interviews of long-time area residents and family members, farm equipment and artifact analyses, archaeological excavations, stabilization measures, and the development of interpretative exhibits for area schools, museums, and the general public" (p. i).

Excavations at the Quince Site (34AT134) Atoka County, Oklahoma

Description: This volume presents findings from an excavation at the Quince Site of McGee Creek Reservoir project area. Excavations at the Quince Site disclosed deep alluvial deposits with several occupations throughout the Holocene Period. The site contains a well-preserved culturally stratified deposit dating from Paleoindian to Woodland Indian periods.
