Mercado de Fort Worth: Issues and Opportunities: This report presents the findings of a study by the University of North Texas Center for Economic Research and Development. The study is to provide property owners in Mercado de Fort Forth with information to aid their decision making for building renovations and business investment. Thinking Strategically about Economic Development in Dallas: Why a High-Wage Recruitment Strategy Makes Sense: The Dallas/Fort Worth Metropolitan Area, along with most other regions of the country, has witnessed some tough economic times. Labor Market Assessment for Southern Dallas with Emphasis on Key Target Industries: This report, by the University of North Texas Center for Economic Development and Research, examines selected characteristics of the labor force available to firms located in the southern area of the City of Dallas, Texas. DART's Sales Tax Revenues: A Review and Outlook: This report discusses the DART systems' sales tax revenues. In addition to the fare box, DART's operations are funded through a one percent sales tax levied by member cities on all retail transactions as permitted by state law. During the 1990s, DART's sales tax receipts grew at a healthy clip. But between 2001 and 2003, taxable sales in the DART service area declined. By contrast, for many non-DART suburban cities, taxable sales continued to expand during the 2001-2003 period. Needs Assessment Toolkit: Guidelines and Data Collection Tools: This report is part of the Web-at-Risk project. The Web-at-Risk project is one of eight digital preservation projects funded in 2004 by the Library of Congress. Each of the projects represents a collaborative effort to preserve for future generations born-digital or digitized cultural heritage materials and collections. The Web-at-Risk project is a 3-year collaborative effort of the California Digital Library, the University of North Texas (UNT), and New York University. The project will develop a Web Archiving Service that enables curators to build collections of web-published materials. The content will be collected largely from US federal and state government agencies, but will also include political policy documents, campaign literature, and information surrounding political movements. The project work will be conducted along four paths of overlapping activities. The Web-at-Risk Project work paths include (1) Content identification, selection, and acquisition; (2) Content harvest and analysis; (3) Content ingest, retention, and transfer; and (4) Partnership building.
