The Relation of Achievement to Two Different Methods of Providing for Individual Differences

Description: The purpose of this study is to determine the relation of achievement to two different methods of providing for individual differences. Achievement means educational growth or achievement in subject matter and personality development. The two methods are the qualitative, that is, the degree of difficulty of the work assigned, and the quantitative, which means the amount of work done or the minimum-maximum assignment.

The Relation of the Mathematical Vocabulary of the Sixth and Seventh Grades to Skill in Problem Solving

Description: The purpose of this study was to make a comparison of the relative mastery of mathematical vocabulary with skills in general problem solving between two groups of sixth and seventh grade arithmetic students. An effort was made to determine to what extent knowledge of the mathematical vocabulary influenced skills in general problem solving.

A Study of Certain Interests of Boys and Girls between the Ages of Twelve and Sixteen Years in a Typical West Texas County such as Stonewall County

Description: A personality questionnaire was given to the pupils of the four rural consolidated high schools of Stonewall County for the purpose of finding out, in so far as this was possible, the chief interests of each student between the ages of twelve and sixteen years. A series of questions concerning religious, social, recreational, and vocational interest was given to the students within this age group.

Description: The purpose of this study is to determine whether the twelve-year system in Texas is democratic and sound from the standpoint of finance, biological basis, and psychology. This problem originated through the adoption of the twelve-grade system for Texas schools by the State Department of Education. The administrator is desirous to choose and to organize the plan most profitable for the child. From this study it is hoped that an adequate educational program can be established.
