Effects of X-irradiation on Potassium Flux in Isolated Nerves

Description: The purpose of this study, therefore, was threefold in nature: (1) to determine the effects of x-irradiation on the influx and efflux of potassium in compound nerve fibers (2) to attempt to relate the radiation-induced changes in electrical activity with potassium flux and (3) to use the information obtained to gain insight into the possible cellular site (s) of radiation insult to compound nerves.

The efficacy of self-administered systematic desensitization

Description: The purpose of this study was to test the therapeutic usefulness of a completely self-administered, behavior-therapy technique: systematic desensitization. The method involved the comparison of behavior change following the treatment of two groups of subjects. Efficient Parallel Algorithms and Data Structures Related to Trees

Description: The main contribution of this dissertation proposes a new paradigm, called the parentheses matching paradigm. It claims that this paradigm is well suited for designing efficient parallel algorithms for a broad class of nonnumeric problems. To demonstrate its applicability, we present three cost-optimal parallel algorithms for breadth-first traversal of general trees, sorting a special class of integers, and coloring an interval graph with the minimum number of colors.
