A Quantitative Approach to Medical Decision Making

Description: The purpose of this study is to develop a technique by which a physician may use a predetermined data base to derive a preliminary diagnosis for a patient with a given set of symptoms. The technique will not yield an absolute diagnosis, but rather will point the way to a set of most likely diseases upon which the physician may concentrate his efforts. The Relationship Between Scores on the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised and Scores on the Wide Range Achievement Test

Description: The problem with which this study is concerned is establishing the relationship between scores on the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised (WISC-R) and the Wide Range Achievement Test (WRAT). The findings indicated a highly significant positive relationship between the WISC-R and WRAT, yielding a a < .001 for all rs between WISC-R Verbal, Performance, and Full Scale IQs and WRAT Reading, Spelling, and-Arithmetic. Description: This thesis describes the synthesis and preliminary enzymatic study of glutaryl-S-(8-aminooctyl)-L-cysteinylglycine and glutaryl-S-(10-aminodecyl)-L-cysteinylglycine as inhibitors of glyoxalase I. These analogs of glutathione were prepared as potential ligands for affinity chromatography purification of glyoxalase I.
