Comparison in Achievement of Pupils Participating and Not-Participating in a School Lunch Program

Description: The purpose of this study is to make an investigation of the achievement records and personality status of a matched group of pupils in the Lake Dallas elementary school to determine what effect, if any, participation or non-participation in the school's hot lunch program has on grade progress and disposition of the pupils. Attention is given to individual studies of pupils and to outcomes of instruction.

The Use of Art Objects in the Fiction of Nathaniel Hawthorne

Description: This study is not concerned with the evaluation of Hawthorne's artistic criticism but with the uses he made art objects in his writing. Such a study should give suggestions for interpretation of his works, as well as information concerning literary devices and technique in style. It should consider the contribution of the art objects to the literary artistry of the works in which they appear. Such a study has not previously been made.

A Lunchroom Study of Specific Elementary, Junior, and Senior High Schools in the City of Dallas

Description: The present study was made without benefit of poster, films, bulletin board, or other teaching aids. It was undertaken to determine the nutritive values of the menus served, the foods selected by the plate lunches, and the amount of food wasted in two elementary, two junior high, and two senior high school lunch cafeterias in the City of Dallas during a six month period of time.
