Lactate Dehydrogenase of Hymenolepis Diminuta: Isolation and Characterization

Description: Lactate dehydrogenase was isolated in pure form from crude extract of the cestode Hymenoleois diminuta by heat treatment and column chromatography. The purified enzyme has a specific activity of 106 units per mg protein. The molecular weight of the purified protein was 75,000 as determined by Sephadex gel filtration and analytical ultracentrifugation. Protein Profiles of Azotobacter Vinelandii During the Encystment Process

Description: Azotobacter vinelandii 12837 was grown in Burk's glucose media and transferred onto Burk's n-butanol agar plates to allow for the formation of cysts. The patterns of the vegetative cell proteins were compared for each successive day of cyst formation, using the polyacrylamide gel isoelectric focusing technique. Effects of Nutrient Media on Growth and Morphology of Azotobacter Vinelandii

Description: The work described in this thesis was undertaken to study the reasons why Azotobacter vinelandii ATCC 12837 after incubation in Burk's nitrogen-free liquid will not form as many colonies when plated on Difco Tryptic Soy Agar as when planted on Burk's nitrogen-free agar. Description: Changes in trophic status are often related to increases or decreases in the allocthonous inputs of nutrients from changes in land use and management practices. Lake and reservoir managers are continually faced with the questions of what to monitor, how to monitor it, and how much change is necessary to be considered significant. Temperature Tolerance of Freshwater Fish Exposed to Water-Borne Cadmium

Description: Lethal toxicity values (96 h LC50; mg Cd/L) for the test species were similar: Lepomis cyanellus, 11.52; Notropis lutrensis, 6.62; Pimephales promelus, 3.58. However the effects of cadmium concentration and exposure time on temperature tolerance varied between species.
