Niche Structure of an Anole Community in a Tropical Rain Forest within the Choco Region of Colombia

Description: Ten species of anoles at Bajo Calima within the Choco of Western Colombia separate into two principal microhabitat groups: forest species, and those inhabiting openings and edges. The ten anoles further separate according to ground and vegetation dwellers. There is a relation at Bajo Calima between the number of anole species and vegetational structural diversity. A History and Survey of the Baroque Motet for One Solo Voice Outside of Italy

Description: During the Baroque Era (1600-1750) many motets were written for one solo voice, representing a major departure from the polyphonic motet settings which had been produced since before 1250. The study traces the development of the solo motet from it s first appearance in the Centro concerti ecclesiastici of Lodovico Grossi do Viadana in 1602 up to 1750, when the style began to deteriorate along with the Neapolitan opera style.

A Study of Transient Molecular Ions Using a Resonant Microwave Cavity as a Probe

Description: The microwave-resonant-cavity technique was employes as a probe to determine the presence of molecular ions of helium in a d.c.-discharge, helium-plasma filament placed coaxially in a TM010 mode cavity. The cavity-resonance profile was displayed on an oscilloscope, and the nature of the perturbation of this resonance was used to determine the nature of the ions present in the plasma stream.

Effects of Lysolecithin on Macrophages

Description: The effect of lysolecithin on the macrophage was studied using five macrophage function assays. The results of indicate that lyso lecithin is a macrophage activating agent which causes enhanced cell spreading, increased phagocytosis of sheep erythrocytes, heightened membrane activity in the presence of damaged autologous red blood cells, chemotaxis, and vigorous phagocytosis and intracellular killing of Staphylococcus albus.

Description: Triosephosphate isomerase (EC 5.3.1.1., TPI) undergoes specific posttranslational modifications (deamidation and oxidation) which are believed to initiate protein turnover by destabilization of the dimer.
