Evening Dress
Evening Dress in a layered green floral print silk with white chrysanthemums and pink peonies. Dress consists of: A) Over dress of silk chiffon. Full length. Elbow length, set-in sleeves with tied hems. Center front opening with collarless, piped neckline which closes with two covered snaps. Wide box pleat down center back. Size "8" tag at center back neckline. B) Under dress in slip style of matching silk. V-shaped neckline with 3/8" strapped shoulders that form a crisscross in back and secures in front with snaps. Center back zipper closure with hook & eye. Slits at side seams are 20" long. Lined in green rayon. Designer's label at center back zipper: "(Japanese symbols) / Hanae Mori" Size "8" tag at base of designer's label. Retailer's tag above designer's label: "Neiman-Marcus" Care/content label at center back neckline.
Evening Gown
Evening gown. Strapless, full-length gown with pattern of horizontal chevrons in orange and white, and with Lurex chevrons in metallic iridescent blues, greens, and orange. Upper edge of dress with band of same fabric at 90 degree angle, and with flat bow of self at center front. Zipper at back, off-center to left side. Bodice with inner corset band with snaps and hooks-and-eyes. Dress lined in cream damask with woven logo “Mori Hanae” repeated over entire surface. With accompanying rectangular orange silk shawl/scarf/wrap. Designer's label: "Hanae Mori" with Japanese characters.
Figured vest
Men’s vest of silk/acetate blend with eight-pointed star, round laurel leaf, and rope filigree motif. Five button closure with black cotton trim. Welt pockets with zipper closures. Back is black silk quilted with red/brown topstitching, vent at center back, bottom hem with two snap closures. Sleeveless with generous armscyes. Bottom hem ribbed cotton knit of varying patterns. Label at center back neckline: “Matsuda / Nicole Toyko Japan / Made in Japan Fabrique au Japon” Fabric content label.
Geta sandals
Pair of Geta. The sandals are straight last, with thick white plastic soles, having horizontal bands of orange in two shades. Orange and white straps to fit between toe and back to sides of foot. One with paper label on reverse. Came with original plastic bag with printing and snap closure.

Hat
Hat of natural straw. The conical hat has a rounded top, and a "waist" part way down where the curve of the hat changes. The entire hat is overlaid with bands of colored raffia (blue; white; yellow; orange; dark blue; purple; and green) extending from the top of the crown to the brim. From the top of the hat extends a tassel/streamers of the same strands of raffia. Unlined, with white inner hatband, and a white string attached to help secure hat to wearer's head. Label attached to back of crown: "Made in Japan" Written on inner headband in blue marker: "77 [illeg]"

Box jacket of black wool with cutaway hem. Notched collar. Single-breasted with 5 button closure and tailored buttonholes. Welt pockets at left breast and at hips. Long, set-in sleeves with 3 smaller, non-functioning buttons at hem. Unlined. Designer's label at center back neckline: "Yohji Yamamoto" Also has fiber content, size and cleaning instructions on designer's label. Content/care label attached to inside hem of right pocket.

Man's jacket in Japanese ghee style. Black basket weave double-faced fabric of heavy, 100% cotton. Exterior with red and white accent stripes on shoulders running down the 3/4 length sleeves, and horizontally around lower part of coat. On collar, running down front are white Kanji characters. Center front opening with no fasteners. On back is single large Kanji character in white on red circle with white border. Design on inside is printed into fabric, of ladder, fire with smoke, and water running down. Discharge printed, drawing color out, then printed over with red. Warp and weft are two distinct fibers, one allows dye to come out, other does not. Retailer's label inside: "Kimono Shop / Honolulu / Made in Japan" Content/size label inside: "100% Cotton / Made in Japan / Small"

Jacket of black cotton/polyester blend twill in box style. Satin revers with large black plastic button and tailored buttonhole at base of collar; long set-in sleeves with inner knit cuffs and closure of two circular black plastic buttons with tailored buttonholes on placket of exterior hem. Two double welt satin pockets on left side and one double welt satin pocket on right side. Lined in black polyester with large "Y-3" stamped across back shoulders. Designer's label at center back neckline: "Y-3 Yohji Yamamoto Adidas"

Japanese Kasuri (woven panel). Combination of warp and weft cotton double dyed kasuri (ikat) create bold geometric pattern - fish created solely by weft kasuri. This type of combined ikats is known as 'e-gasuri' - delicately drawn fish motif alternating with bold geometric blocks. Indigo dyed Kasuri panels were woven in narrow strips of approximately 13 " W because of the size of the loom. They were then sewn into kimono, futonji (futon covers), zabuton (sitting cushions), furoshiki (traditional Japanese wrapping cloth), and noren (room dividers).

Inside back yoke hanging to shoulder blades. Three Japanese characters worked in red thread below the inside back collar line. Contrasting warp and weft threads of blue and brown. Unlined.

Kimono of white silk dyed with an all-over pattern of shibori in a pale orange/pink, which creates a tiny grid with dark brownish dots at center of each square. Traditional style with mid-length sleeves. Snaps at collar for removable collar. Lined in silk, upper part of light brown (resembles tea dyed?), lower part of white, and lower hem of orange/red.

Japanese wedding kimono of copper colored, stiff silk brocade. Uchikake (formal kimono with rolled padded hem.) This uchikake is the long formal outer gown that would be worn without a sash or obi. Standing band collar that extends to the front gore panels. Hanging square hirosode sleeves open from the underarm. The sleeves are padded with silk batting. Fully lined in orange/red silk. The lining is exposed at the rolled hem and at the sleeve openings.

"Hanae Mori" signature in print. Under layer of black chiffon. High rounded neckline. Full length, straight silhouette. Long sleeves are open under arms and are formed from rectangular panels which drape like kimono sleeves for full length of dress. Center back zipper closure with hook & eye on lining; covered snaps on black chiffon and gray chiffon layers with hook & eye joining the layers at neckline. Lined in gray rayon. Designer's label at back neckline: "Hanae Mori / [Japanese characters]" Size 14 tag attached to base of designer label. Content/care label on black chiffon layer at back neckline. B) Sash/scarf in gray chiffon print matching dress; 12" wide.

The kimono has a scene of a procession by children in traditional Japanese clothing, one on horseback. At upper back is a circular printed Mon in blue and white of a trefoil leaf form. Unlined. May be a child's kimono rather than a youth's shirt.

Varsity style jacket with front of mustard colored wool felt. Knit male kabuki style face on back. Center front zippered opening with snap at neckline. Wide rolled collar of black corduroy has 5 snaps. Left black corduroy and right red corduroy sleeves are zippered and detachable; cuffs have snap closure. Black corduroy waistband closes with 2 snaps. Two angled pockets at hips and patch pocket at left front with embroidered patch of male kabuki style face. Lined in yellow quilted polyester. Designer's label at center back neckline: "Yamamoto / Kansai"

Kimono "tomesode" of black silk with small white heraldic Mon crests scattered across the upper garment. Inner lining of red silk printed with floral scape. Knee length; loops for fastening on both inside and outside. Single small label at inside collar: "Made in Japan".

Uchikake
Wedding uchikake (padded hemmed kimono) of pink and white polyester(?) lined in red silk. Embroidered with large chrysanthemum and sakura (cherry blossoms) in pink, white, silver, red and with large cranes in flight in red, white, and gold with blue crowns.
Uchikake
Wedding uchikake (padded hem kimono) of ecru rinzu (silk patterned like damask) background with embroidered ume and branch (plum blossoms) designs in metallic gold and silk green, orange, and yellow threads in the foreground. Partially lined in orange silk of two different colors. Hand-sewn. Padding is found through out garment - thickest remaining layers at hem, wrist-opening of sleeve and front collar panel. Lining is also rinzu (damask styled) silk - but unadorned, of similar pale color. No mons (or family crests) on this garment.

Wedding uchikake (padded hem kimono) of white polyester with large silver embroidery cranes, silver metallic thread lining, which shows at bottom hem, which is padded. Cranes in flight indicate younger bride, Long sleeves, indicating youth. Metallic lining is very modern, likely to have been made for tourist market. Corners of front retain protective covers which are taken off when worn.
