Aerodynamic Performance and Static Stability and Control of Flat-Top Hypersonic Gliders at Mach Numbers From 0.6 to 18

Description: Memorandum presenting a study of aerodynamic performance and static stability and control at hypersonic speeds. In the first part of the study, the effect of interference lift is investigated by tests of asymmetric models with conical fuselages and arrow plan-form wings. Air-Gun Studies of Ferroelectric Materials (Second Printing)

Description: Specimens of two ferroelectric materials, barium titanate and lead-zirconate titanate, have been subjected to high dynamic stresses by impacting them with a projectile accelerated by an air gun. The purpose of these tests was to supplement information previously obtained using high explosives to stress the ferromagnetic materials.

Air Scattering of Co60 Gamma Rays: Theory Versus Experiment

Description: For Co60 source at 15 meters, the air-scattered gamma dose rate predicted by theory is excerpted from ORNL-1575, pp. 167-203. This is compared with experimental measurements for the same source and comparable geometry reported by Convair in CVAC-170T. After applying an appropriate correction for ground scattering as estimated in Mart-55-16T (Convair), the two results are found to be in substantial agreement.

Description: Abstract: A low-level airborne radioactivity survey of parts of Beaverhead and Madison Counties in southwestern Montana was undertaken from June 6 to October 14, 1955. Flying centered around the Ruby Range-Sweetwater Basin area and concentrated on the Precambrian metamorphic complex and Tertiary lake-bed sediments. Analysis of harmonic forces produced at hub by imbalances in helicopter rotor blades

Description: From Introduction: "First, an analysis of loads transmitted to the hub by balanced blades will be given. In the second section, the additional loads transmitted to the hub in a direction normal to the plane of rotation of the blades by imbalances in a rotor are derived. In the entire analysis, the results are given in terms of the forces transmitted to the hub by a single rotating helicopter blade in flight, and these are regarded as known or given."
