Favorable environments, as determined by surface and subsurface investigation, are those that could contain uranium deposits of at least 100 tons U3O8 in rocks with an average grade not less than 100 ppm U3O8. Work on the Marble Canyon Quadrangle began March 6, 1979, and ended February 29, 1980."

The entire quadrangle is in the Basin and Range Province and is characterized by Tertiary silicic volcanic rocks overlying mainly Cretaceous carbonate rocks and sandstones."
