Nature of Bond and Diole Moment of the LiH Molecule

Description: A description of the character of the bond as a superposition of homopolar and ionic bonding is a very useful approximation in quantum-mechanical research on the properties of molecules. In the LiH molecule, it may be assumed with sufficient accuracy that the bond is formed by two electrons, since, besides the outer electrons composing the bond, there is only a closed layer of inner electrons in the lithium atom.

On the Theory of the Compton Effect on a Meson

Description: The equations of Proka in the field of the plane wave are considered in this paper. When the energies of the incident quantum are large, a solution is reached in a closed form. On the basis of the solutions obtained, the diffusion of light on a meson is evaluated by the method of delayed potentials.

Parachors of Cyclic Esters of Carbonic, Sulfurous, and Phosphorous Acids

Description: the Physical constants of the phosphorous acid esters listed in the article are of interest because compounds of this general type may exhibit specific toxic properties or serve as intermediates in the preparation of toxic compounds.

Thermodynamic Properties of Adsorption-Complexes in Heterogeneous Catalysis

Description: The surfaces of adsorbents are highly non-uniform, yet small portions thereof are fairly uniform and in the case of dehydrogenation-catalysts and dehydration-catalysts these constitute active centers of catalysis.

The Natural Abundance of 13C and 18O, and the Alteration of Isotopic Abundances in the Equilibrium Between Hydrocyanic and Acetic Acids in Solution

Description: The 13C is enriched by approximately 0.2% in the liquid phase. This indicates that the hydrocyanic acid dissolved in the glacial acid can be only slightly dissociated.

On the Thermochemistry of the Rare Earths II: The Heats of Solution and of Formation of the Anhydrous Chlorides of the Rare Earths

Description: In connection with the determination of the heats of solution of the rare earth metals, the heats of solution of the anhydrous chlorides were at first measured in large amounts of water and from these, the heats of formation were calculated.

The Heats of Solutions of Rare Earth Minerals

Description: The report addresses the heats of solution of the metals and the heats of solution and of formation of the chlorides and iodides. A survey will be presented of the inclusion of yttrium and its compounds into the sequence of the lanthanides.
