Effect of Transverse Body Force on Channel Flow With Small Heat Addition

Description: Note presenting an analysis of the steady, compressible, inviscid channel flow to which heat is added at a cross-sectional plane and which is also subject to a transverse body force. The prime parameters governing the flow are a dimensionless heat parameter and the Mach and Froude numbers. Solutions were obtained for uniform or nonuniform heat addition at a cross-sectional plane under the simplifying assumption of either small Mach number or large Froude number.

Enthalpies and Heat Capacities of Solid and Molten Fluoride Mixtures

Description: The enthalpies and heat capacities of seventeen fluoride mixtures in the liquid state have been determined using Bunsen Ice Calorimeters and copper block calorimeters. The fluoride mixtures were composed of the fluorides of two or more of the following metals: lithium, sodium, potassium, beryllium, zirconium, and uranium. The enthalpies and heat capacities of most of these mixtures were studied in the solid state also. Estimates of the heat of fusion have been made. General empirical equations … more

Influence of Copper Ions on Adherence of Vitreous Coatings to Stainless Steel

Description: Note presenting an investigation of the effect of copper oxide in promoting the adherence of vitreous coatings to AISI type 321 stainless steel. Laminar Flow About a Rotating Body of Revolution in an Axial Airstream

Description: We have set ourselves the problem of calculating the laminar flow on a body of revolution in an axial flow which simultaneously rotates about its axis. The problem mentioned above, the flow about a rotating disk in a flow, which we solved some time ago, represents the first step in the calculation of the flow on the rotating body of revolution in a flow insofar as, in the case of a round nose, a small region about the front stagnation point of the body of revolution may be replaced by its tange… more
