Electric power wheeling and dealing: technological considerations for increasing competition: volume II--contractor documents, part B.

Description: This report discusses the temporal and economic factors of electric utilities in United States that make transmission constrains vary with time, and material specific to the individual cases. A particular focus of the investigation was the degree to which the transmission system would limit, or be affected by, the various scenarios.

Using Desalination Technologies for Water Treatment

Description: This study provides a technical assessment of traditional desalination techniques that can be used for water treatment. These techniques include distillation, as well as more recently developed membrane processes. As part of this effort OTA held a one-day workshop on July 29, 1987, with desalination and water treatment experts to review the initial draft of this background paper and to discuss other areas of interest. The conclusions of these discussions are included in this background report.
